Another Google Update on It's way

SEO is zero sum as long as the number of keywords is finite.

With infinite keywords, it's not zero sum. You can lose 1 position to a kw but earn 1000 on different combinations that others haven't thought of.

People search and get results on single keywords. What I meant was, if you lost your position for that keyword, someone else gained it. It may be another organic result, an ad, a map, a video...

what is the characteristic of the number 1 position in your niche?
It's dominated by techradar.com, it's really hard to outrank its page even though there is no many backlinks towards on its inner page..

I'm on tech niche. 80% Keywords are still ranking but 50% of traffic been lost. I think it's due to the loss in ranking for the relevant keywords.

My blog traffic got spiked up on may 21 & 22. The same has been revoked in this June update.

Is this update favors authority sites? Not exactly. I can see new sites are now ranking number 1 without backlinks.

I don't know how long it will take to identify what was really happened.

I'm in tech as well and my main site lost 50% of its traffic. When checking my competitors they lost traffic as well and brand new sites have popped up from nowhere but I can also see serps being dominated by big tech websites for some keywords eventhough they are not optimized for that search query.

And I also see duplicate listings from big sites for some keywords so I guess google failed with what they where trying to do.

Hopefully we will see a roll-back soon.

I like how they transitioned from "oh the user oh dear user lets take care of the user get him the best serp results ever"
to " yeah fuck the user we need more cash lets hide the ads add more ads then put ads on these ads and make it seem like its organic..."
lol

BTW my rant aside, for those of you who didn't read between the lines the transition you need to make is to start more ppc campaigns and pay google money..it will be harder and harder to get to the top results without paying. I already started multiple campaigns today.

Speaking of domination.

Anyone else notice Reddit taking over? Looks like they finally hired an SEO team. They rank #1 for tons of kw's I monitor.

Another thing: Reddit links deeply discounted. Sites which ranked based on Reddit are down 3+ pages.

Google adjusted Reddit for this update IMO.

One more, thing, I just noticed that reddit removed the rel="nofollow" tag from the links that are posted on subreddits.
Maybe this is the reason ?

can I say this: techradar's high DA is what gets it to outrank you, regardless of the PA of the page that you are competing against? safe assumption?

also what is the DA/PA of one of the pages that you are competing with between techradar and your page?

There are two reasons that I believe techradar dominates the "best [software]" related keywords:
1). The domain has a ton of backlinks from the related sites.
2). Techradar has covered all the software related "best" topic in its content on many pages, and it will provide the overall topic relevance.

So the 3rd metrics of a specific page doesn't matter at all...

We should stop to think about authority links PA/DA. First change Ive noticed: Google really want fresh content linked to trending topics.

I update my classic rock blog every 2-3 days and get indexed after 6-8 hours. Yesterday one post of mine got indexed just 49 munutes after posting.

It was a major breaking news and a lot of searchings. This blog ranks fine and I dont have any so-called authority link like some from my main competitor: ultimate classic rock.

Onde of my blogs about Escort girls in Liverpool tanked. From #3 to God only knows. It is part of a PBN and ALL of them lost rankings. The ones hosted by HG or my own VPN spiked.

Not sure what to think. It's too soon to grant conclusions?

Hello Guys. I am not new here, but it is kinda my first time to ever write in here. I see that many people are scared of the possible update from Google. Well, not to brag, but I actually have been doing SEO since late 2006. That's like forever. Guess how many times I have been dealing with Google updates?? Yeah, a lot of times. My hardest hit was back when the first Pengiun update was deployed. My sites were hit pretty bad, and I also lost a couple of clients. But guess what? I have never given up. Today I own many websites, and do lots of link building for both myself and my clients, and I have lots of page 1 rankings. I am not scared of this at all. My strategy that has been for years is; create good content, and good links and you will be safe. Simple as that. But when it comes to links you should be very careful about over optimization. Check out Nathan Gotch's anchor text article, and you will see the basic plot. Also check out a fantastic software that will calculate anchor text distributions according to the "Linker's Intent" strategy. Highly effective if done right. It is called LINKIO. So just calm down everybody. Because if we were to give up after every time Google changes anything, I would have given up a thousand times over all these years. And by the way, ALL my rankings are still going strong these days.. Kind regards, Raymond J. - Norway

It effects ,backlinks methode Google algoritme , how Google assesses quality, but not backlinks
They are history also Websites with content quality issues, as well as too many ads, seemed to be impacted the most by this update.
I dont believe Seo is dead

It appeared to be a blessing for me.
My site went live less than a month ago and after last update lots of my keywords came under 25th position. Best is 18, SV 1900/M
Last 22, SV 320/M

LETS SEE HOW IT GOES FROM HERE!

With a back story like that, you can expect the movie offers to come in any day now.

Only keywords with ranking 3-25 had any movement for me. Ranking 26-100 had zero movemet
