Another Google Algorithm Update?

The event started exactly on 1-Aug-2026 coinciding with previous traffic drops on 1-Jun and 1-Jul. So, I've noticed a pattern in my traffic drops and it may not be a coincidence. Some of my sites lost rankings and one site almost disappeared from SERPs. I've manually checked SERPs and found that there is a lot of shuffling and Youtube videos are getting high preference. I keep tweaking my sites, so I don't know if I messed up something or Google dropped a nuke on my sites. Please share with us if you are experiencing traffic drops, so that I can confirm it?
seeing similar movement on a few sites too. hard to say if it is a confirmed update yet, but the SERP changes nd extra youtube presence definitely feel noticeable.

I’ve noticed similar volatility lately, with some sites losing rankings while YouTube gets more visibility.

It could be algorithmic shuffling, so I’d compare SERPs, affected pages and recent site changes before assuming it’s a penalty.

This is another Google update for sure. Whether it's a result of the previous core algorithm changes or a new update to the system is not yet revealed. Some of my low authority sites got wiped out. They were pushed back to prioritize high authority sites. Google now started showing 3-4 related pages from each high authority site before showing one relevant result each from low authority sites in SERPs. This will probably give 10x boost to high authority sites, encouraging them to keep doing SEO for Google and spending money on ads.

Google is also trying to improve the CTR for their own parasites like Youtube & Reddit, distributing them through out the SERPs instead of grouping them together on first page in a carousel or a feature snippet. Earlier, I used to find all Youtube videos in a top videos snippet in SERPs and all Reddit threads in a forums or a dedicated Reddit snippet. But now, Google is distributing these results through out pages to the extent that I'm finding at least 1 Youtube video & 1 Reddit thread on each page of SERPs for some results.

There could be multiple reasons for this behavior but I don't want to speculate at this stage. Let's wait until we get a bigger picture to understand the impact of this update.

I recently started seeing improvements in my traffic of a personal project from past three days. It usually happens when there is an update and sites on the top start getting penalized. This gives my website boost in rankings resulting in more traffic.

Google keeps rolling out updates one after another. Even though it tries to apply its quality guidelines and rank websites accordingly, this sometimes causes even high-quality websites to lose traffic.

As someone who has been doing website work for many years and has tried countless things in terms of SEO, unfortunately we experience major fluctuations during these updates without really knowing the exact cause. Rankings do tend to recover over time, but sometimes it takes several months. The August update also looks like a major one — let's see what happens as things unfold. We'll find out together.

We have noticed similar volatility around the start of the month, but I'd be careful about assuming it's a specific Google update without more data. SERPs can shuffle for many reasons, and YouTube getting more visibility could also vary by query type.

But also seeing some fluctuations there, but wouldn’t recommend changing too many things at one time. SERP shifts have been happening frequently in recent times, so it is best to do comparisons first.
