Anonymous LLC?

Hi all-

Sorry if this is a re-post, I treaded through a number of search terms and pages of business/llc advice but didn't really find an answer.

Is there any way to open an LLC without having my full name/address show in the public listings as Registered Agent/President/Secretary?

I imagine faking an address/name wouldn't go over too well with the state agency. So I don't really know what my options are here.

you will have to file for incorporation through Nevada it cost a couple hundred dollars just goggle incorporation Nevada and do a little searching I see a special on tv about it.

I don't want to get off subject here, but I'm curious....what's the reason you want an anonymous LLC?

I just find it awkward that my LLC's can be googled and then my full name and current residential address is viewable by anyone. Which in a lot of cases isn't terrible, but I always think of those paranoia-driven edge cases.

I guess it would just be a greater sense of security (despite this being the internet and all).

If you live in the USA, trying to set up an anonymous LLC is going to raise a lot of red flags if you don't know what you are doing. Several that I can thinks of are; tax evasion, money laundering, drug dealing, terrorism.

It sound like you are trying to do this on the cheap. Spend some money to get some good advice.

My two cents worth. You could have one LLC or what-ever (DBA, partnership, sub-s) own another LLC.

I am not a lawyer nor do I portray one on TV.

Thanks. Yeah, I pay quarterly to have an accountant keep my books in line. Based on what I'm learning now, there is probably no real need to be that anonymous, so I will drop the pursuit.

From what I understand you don't want to hide yourself but put up a barrier to protect yourself.
Why don't you use a mailing address? You can rent an address/office and nobody will have your residential address.

It is not strange to do a thing like that. In fact, I think it would be smart in this day and age.
It doesn't protect your name, but if you are legit you don't have to. This is a way to cut the trolls out though.

Oh, I had read in another LLC Business thread that post office boxes weren't allowed to be used as a business address. Is this incorrect?

I have a meeting set up with my accountant tomorrow, so I can ask then, too.

I don't know if office boxes are not allowed, I meant actually renting an address.

But I think asking your accountant is a good start too. You are not the first one facing this problem right?

wanted to get that out of the way, the Nevada code requires that after you create a LLC anonymously you submit members and managers identification by the end of the month

Delaware allows you to create a truly anonymous LLC

most states don't allow LLC's to be formed at a PO Box, though you may be able to rent a private office box at a pack n' ship place or a virtual office space where they accept your mail and offer other services to you and perhaps upwards of dozens of other companies

I have a Nevada LLC and I used LegalZoom's registered agent service so the only info you see if you search my company name is a registered agent at an address in Las Vegas. My home/tax address is definitely not in Nevada. None of my personal info shows up. It's $30 a month but I think it's well worth it. Anonymous enough right?

Would your accountant agree to be your registered agent? Mine does this for me at no charge. Basically, it just means that notices (from the IRS, for example) get sent to her instead of me, which makes her job easier.

An anonymous LLC is a common practice and not illegal. There are people that try to take advantage of this and pull their little scams and schemes. But there is always good when there is bad. Having your info out there on public record can be bothersome, invasive and dangerous.

There are a few states that dont require you to list managers or members on the Articles of Organization. And even the IRS acknowaldges the Nominee Formation process.

Some registered agents charge you to be the organizer on an LLC to keep you off state record. Save money and find one that will do it for free.

I have a few LLC's in Wyoming (the birthplace of the American LLC). The privacy is great and fee are very low.

You can find an agent by searching "Wyoming Registered Agent" on google. State filing fee is $100 + registered agent fee, thats it. Get mail forwarding to stay completely private. Most agents will give you a discount if you ask for one. I've dealt with wyomingregisteredagent and they have been steady with their services, but I have just found 29dollaragent and the price is tempting.

In doing some research, I have found that alot of these agents all work together. Some are even on eachothers company as registered agent and rent in the same building. But, Cheyenne WY is so small, i doubt their are many office buildings, lol.
