I'm here to learn SEO for my business and I've been doing it for 3 years now. The business is in the beauty industry and its been a lot of fun. At first we beat out all of the local competitors for most off the keywords that I cared about, and were in the top 2 to 3 positions. But over 18 months we were pushed down, sometimes into the next page.
I was excited about our progress early on, so I kept going, growing the site but maybe adopted some bad practices, and ended up being captured in the stringent YMYL criteria. So I'm pushing forward trying to learn everything that I can.
SEO is a hard space to be in, and it seems like a lot of guesswork. Just like the ability to buy Instagram followers not all black hat seems to be the best choice in terms of getting good qualified traffic.
