Should one create 1 big authority site covering an entire niche or a big part of it, or create 10s micro-niche sites (having the same content topic of 1 post on that authority site, but expanded of course.)
On one hand, 1 big site will have a better chance at actually becoming an authority for its niche and thus will have an easier time ranking and getting traffic from different sources of keywords. Moreover, major costs will be reduced such as hosting, web design, domain registration fee, etc...
On the other hand, a Google update could hit and destroy months of work on that authority site, while if it actually did hit a micro site, you won't feel it since you will have many other ones.
I'd like to hear your thoughts on this
