But anyways, it would be really simple to do something like this with email spoofing like most people are saying on here. You just need a server, and then you can spoof any email address. However, is that true that the message was also in your Sent folder? If so, he actually did gain access to your account (or had access to the server).
There's no way he can spoof mail into your Sent folder. Also, a lot of platforms out there for viewing mail will allow you to view the source of the email you received. So you can see what server it's coming from, and if it's authenticated (like he logged in to your account).
