Amp for WordPress in 2019

Hiya have seen some older posts about using amp from 2017 ect but wondering how useful it is in 2019 for a WordPress blog, know if your running a news site ect then it's 100% needed to get on the carasol ect but if your running a basic blog page or niche site will it make much difference to your ranking by switching.
What's your experience with it? Did you find it easy to implement? Has it improved your ranking? Site speed? What did you find was the disadvantages of using amp?
Did you use a WordPress amp plug in or did you rewrite the code yourself?
As you can see this is a broad question and hoping to get a discussion on amp to help me and others decide if the rewards are worth the effort.

Amp improves site speed, but I don’t like what it does to site, I had a hard time implementing Adsense codes in it hence I left it, if you’re not using ads then use amp it’s good

cheers dude currently running ads from outbrain and infolinks so think It might be best to leave it for the time being then if it's a pain getting ads to display
 
Thank you for that dude did you find you had much trouble adding ads onto the site once you had switched to amp

Fuck it, waste my time with amp. Some Plugins are not compatible and there is no difference in serps.

Also, it can slow down actually WordPress instead of making more faster.

getting the impression it's a lot of effort for little to no reward. I'll.give it a miss for the time being
 
I am happy with the AMP results. I run the MFA(Made for Adsense) website, and most of the traffic is mobile. It`s Organic, from Google search. I redirected it to the AMP posts/pages. But I used a paid plugin from Codecanyon. This one: https://codecanyon.net/item/wp-amp-accelerated-mobile-pages-for-wordpress-and-woocommerce/16278608. (No affiliation with the plugin). Just this is the only one works perfectly for me — quick integration with Media.net Ads or Adsense with a lot of settings: http://prntscr.com/o3kbmp (Settings tab of the plugin in the admin Dashboard).

The only disadvantage of AMP posts/pages is then I can include contact forms or subscription boxes. And here the revenue from the Media.net AMP ads: http://prntscr.com/o3k8jt. Not bad for one hour of testing and implementation.

tldr
only opt for AMP if you already have mostly mobile traffic
 
Bro leave it.With AMP wp plugin you will have to work on each page 1 by 1 . If you only have few pages than you can use it. If you have a lot of pages i don't think it is worth the effort. What it does shortly is it removes most of the images and codes from the site so it would be faster and easier to open on mobile. If your site is mobile friendly already i don't think it is a must.

yh that's what's putting me off as it's a pain going through ext page was kinda hoping for a plug and play plugging that did all the hard work for me lol. But seams like a lot of effort
 
Just testing it on my smaller site http://mobilelasertag.info/amp/
And although ive not had a chance to redesign the pages yet it looks ok and the speed has increased massively from 3.9 seconds on a 4g connection to 0.8 seconds just gotta see how outbrain implements on it once they have sent me the amp code
 
Recently i heard that amp has much more effect in terms of traffic in countries with lower quality internet

Yes it helps with the speed and compatibility for sure.It removes a lot of unnecessary code.

yh been using everything to increase speed wp fastest catch imagily ect but couldn't get it lower than 3.9 seconds so over the moon now it runs at 0.8seconds just hope it's not too much of a pain adding outbrain to it for ads lol
 
Is it good for SEO etc? Yes, Google will start to promote it more heavily as well.
Do I like it? Fuck no. Its not comfortable to use as a phone user to begin with, plus it's Google shoving down our throats another uselles thing
