Where do they draw the time zone? Obviously it goes by the hour, so at some point of some line it must be one hour in front, one behind.

I'm hoping BreakinBrix turns up. He can probably solve my age old question.

Sorry if I spelt your user name wrong, sure I have.

I am aware of time zones. My question is in a multiple time zone country, where is the line drawn.

You talk about time zones like man decided they will exist

They were created when the world was invented

The really confusing part in the US is that not all cities respect daylight savings, so some cities might be 4pm, let's say, but places like Illinois (I think that's one state that doesn't do daylight savings) will be 5pm even though they are in the same time zone as the rest of their area.

Basically, the answer is just to always show up whenever you want cuz you're on time somewhere.

I live in Illinois, and yes we do have daylight savings time. It is a pain in my ass. Most of Arizona doesn't do it, except for the Navajo Nation. They observe it. Hawaii doesn't do it either. Neither do a lot of US overseas territories.

The most accurate clock is in space. It operates off a vibrating crystal to calculate time to a very large decimal place. From there it sends infrared beams across the entire planet marking which areas are allocated to which timezone based upon the original's time.

lol, your imagination is amazing, I laughed for a few minutes, thanks for that

Russia was divided by regions, it has 8 or 9 big time zones, so the time zone boundaries follows the border of regions.
US has 5 big time zones, sometimes the time zone boundaries following the rivers or roads, so some states can be in 2 time zones.

If you're asking about time zones it's divided like this...

Right now 9pm where I'm at in NJ basically on the red line. Then 6pm in Cali.

About 1 hour in front / 1 hour behind I'm not sure what you're asking. The more west you go the more minutes that get subtracted. So if I transported half way to central time (the zig zag) it would be 8:30pm. 1/4 of the way would be 8:45, etc.

Why American's and Russians? You know Australia is nearly as big as the USA right?

The earth is split up into 24 segments, from -12 to +12 and wherever that line is, the timezone changes. Its not a difficult thing to find out, you could have just Googled it.

Because I know they have many time zones.

I know the time zones of the earth. But in America they have to draw the line somewhere. So your clock says it is 12pm whereas your next door neighbours says it is 1am

Luckily most digital timekeeping methods can tell when a user crosses into another time zone and adjusts accordingly. I have a friend who works in one time zone and commutes to his house in another time zone (East-Central Tennessee). He says that it is nice leaving for work at 8:00am, driving for 45 minutes, and getting to work at 7:45am, but it gets confusing when he leaves work at 4:45pm, drives for 45 minutes, and gets to work at 6:30pm.

    It all evens out.

I'm with Micky, it's also freaking me out. It would be great to have your house crossing over a zone, then if you felt like a lay in one day you just roll over to the other side of the bed and gain 3 hours.
