Amazon Success - $300 Day Yesterday

No its not my site - when I was learning to mod the theme - that guy was providing his site as an example in the forum // I thought it would be good for people here to see as an example of providing something bit better than what most amazon affiliate sites look like.

This morning I looked through alot of niches and various keywords - haven't gone through my stats or amazon reports as they arent done yet but this is what I see so far :

Niches Like Babies and Gardening seem untouched in the area I am in .. basically there is one amazon.com listing in the first 10 pages and the rest are Blogs / Affiliate Sites and are basically the same as a week ago.

But you move into some of the consumer good niches and basically there are no affiliate sites at all - its all taken over by Lowes / Amazon / Home depot and other larger online stores.

If you go down the foodchain to the lower tier keywords then most of those survived without the interference but obviously couldn't possibly check everything so early in the day.

One thing I noticed now was Blogspot is pretty much nowhere to be found nor many of the other free type sites .. Did see some squidoo sites though - those seem to rank ok still but just not on page 1.

Funny one area I have done well in for a long time - I have 22 of the top 50 spots with links pointing to my site - while my site has dropped from page 1 to page 9 .. so I don't anticipate losing much traffic in that area I might actually gain some... LOL.

I would definately advise looking at the top 10 pages of your niche to see whether affiliate sites can rank before putting too much work into them today -- as it probably take a little while for Google to tweak back the changes to something more normal all round.

I think I'm slowly getting a hold of this Amazon Affiliate scheme.. However here's a question for you big D:

Can you shed light on your backlinking strategy? Especially, how many links you build per day? And what kind of links? In the first page you mentioned you use UD for backlinking. Do you still use it? Do you do manual backlinking at all? If UD is all you do, it's cool, you just let it run and get the income later Also, do you stop backlinking at some point and rely on the low competition to keep your positions or just keep building backlinks on a daily basis?

OK many questions, hopefully you have time to answer them. Would highly appreciate as I'm not experienced with building links. Just learning here

As I said before, I do not recommend both themes because the style is not the best.
Because as the OP sayed, you want to send your traffic to amazon site asap, and those themes I think do not give a good result.

I will PM an example of one of my old amazon sites that used to make around $50 a day before panda.

none of which are really attractive to buyers of goods

But if you get a nice premium theme and add images and good content then throw in your text links and buttons you stand a better
chance of getting a "click" -- once you have a "click" then anything they buy you get a commission.

This whole thread is all about making your business different than the mainstream and hopefully more successful. You just have to realize if
you spend 5 minutes making a site and not caring about what the visitor sees - then you simply can't expect it to make you $100 a month -- it
just won't happen.

Backlinking Strategy well it's different for each person I guess :

Monday I do articles - tuesday I post to Web 2.0 wednesday I post PDF's thursday I build some links on those with wikis/blog/bookmarks
Friday - if I have any PR available I do them friday.

Mon-Sun : I set up the Social Site bots and let them run throughout the day.

(I don't do anything manually anymore - honestly I don't really care about any one site too much - can always make another if you get what I mean - I have a system and now I just follow that -- that's what you have to figure out --> what works for you with the knowledge you have)

Also one thing I don't understand is so many people PM me their sites and say why doesn't it sell anything ? I 99/100 times say look you got to get a premium theme and use that - don't use crappy looking simple blog themes .... I must have mentioned it alot to go to BHW Download section and try some of those out. So anyway I go there right now and the first thread says - get WP Premium themes

PLEASE Check out this thread and find yourself a nice theme and customize it ... I promise you it will make a difference : also yeah I know the first time you mod it - it takes time - but the next time you know what to do and it becomes a breeze.

Stuff I made with U-Bot to help me with this project. (I just have standard licence)

* Hotmail Creator - single threaded just makes the email and disables the spam filter with a rule - saves info to desktop.
* Site Scanner - just make a text file save it with the list of sites - and it just runs through the list letting me see the site to make sure everything is ok.
* Twitter Scraper - select a person go to their followers - and just tell it how many pages to scrape and it will gather the followers Id's -- then take them to twitter follower and let is follow 100 a day.... just use the free twitter follower software in the download section.

Other things I bought in last few days

* pr traffic booster - want to just increase my creation bots ($20)
* Inspyder backlink monitor - want to know which links are indexed and which aren't ($40)
* Logo Design Pro - want to upgrade the look on my sites with higher quality logos ($50)

Social Networks I am now using : Pinterest / Twitter / StumbleUpon / Instagram

Hope it helps some people realize that once your project becomes cashflow positive - it's not as hard as you think to scale .. all the best.

I finally jumped back into amazon affiliate marketing after reading everything you posted. My question is are you still buying emds or partial match domains.

I have bought a few partials, in niches that had low comp, but I may buy a few emds if you are seeing success with newer emd sites (less than 2-3months old).

What I would do is go to the main keywords I want to rank for and just check that the domains would work ... for example if its youtube youtube amazon amazon homedepot amazon -- then you know its not going to work until Google changes their filters again.

But EMD's are vital in narrowing down web surfers who are buyers - if you use too general a term then your going to get a bunch of traffic that will never convert and will just frustrate you.

If you are interested or capable of using Social Networks now would be a good time to build up as many accounts as possible - and when black friday cyber monday come around promote the offers really aggressively on your network.... never bothered with this last year but this year since I bought the bots will be interested to see how much I can make.

Suffering from a Cold today - but have put a bunch of effort into trying to get these Magento Sites to sell ..... will post results if I see any.

Was asked if Adsense was working - first writer dropped out - just haven't gotten around to getting a new one -- also will post results when/if I see any.

I've been seeing that if you look up (product name) review that actual amazon reviews will be in the first couple of slots with those peoples affiliate code...Now I didn't click on it , so I don't know if they did any SEO but I'm going to try and make a review on the amazon site for something I bought to see if I can rank it.

And I know this has been going on , but since the update I've seen it done a lot more (in my niche, I don't know about any other niches though).

Off to research....

ETA: Now that I look again it looks to just be ASIN Number of the product , not the affliate code.

Were any of your sites affected by the EMD update?

My one affiliate site was hit hard, Gutted!

looking at traffic per site - the worst has a 42.7% traffic drop // the best has a 32 % traffic rise.

Sales always vary up and down - because it depends whether people buy accessories or not.

My biggest concern is my Magento Sites - they are selling nothing at the moment.

Overall I am not worried about Wp Sites - I think it will wash through eventually -- plus I seemed to luck out building my Social Traffic at just the right time to help smooth over any Search Fluctuations. Just keep at it I think but just don't kill yourself worrying about day to day stuff - look at it for the long term ... make better sites / make great content and it will work out.

I never use scraped content on any site I have anymore -- it's a waste of time -- I post some junk on Web 2.0 but who doesn't - personally Content is the hardest thing for me - because most sites bore me ... but you gotta be in all types of niches to diversify.

Some Sites have 5 and some have 40 depends on what the main product I want to sell and how many competing products and accessories there are ... the Magento obviously have hundreds - and while I have sold stuff from those sites in the past - they are selling nothing at the moment.... your right even with the BS that's going on with Google today will be overcome by more unique quality content over time - that's what search engines are supposed to be about .. and at some point that's what we will get back too. I know Google is a business and has to make money - but if they lose their content providors then good luck with that.
