God damn. What the hell is wrong with you people. This is affiliate marketing. This isn't no typical 9-5 job.

Anyone who's an OG in this game knows not to keep all their eggs in one basket. I've made plenty of money with some programs on CJ which eventually ended. You didn't see me cry about it and start an online petition.

I've been in the game for almost 10 years as well and I've learned to diversify a long time ago.

Also, I didn't lose too much with this, already replacing those amazon links and in a week or two, I'm probably going to generate even more than I used to working with Amazon.

However, I know a lot of people that got crushed by this... So much that they can't afford to pay rent right now and this is the second time this bald mofo decided to slash commissions with almost no prior notice.

In the middle of fucking crisis... from which he ended up banking more than 25 billion dollars...

I get that it's a pretty sound business decision but c'mon that's just fcked up... Affiliates built his fcking business.

Maybe I'm biased, since I don't really like Bezos, but you have to admit there should be some regulation preventing this shit. We also have google basically stealing content and one day there will be no websites ranked, cuz they are going to answer all queries right on their homepage while eating up competition.

Again, if it was some factory that decided to cut pays just like that, there would be riots...

I don't care much about income loss, since my Amazon websites were only 10% of my income streams and I'm probably going to end up making even more now, but as I said people making 1 or 2k per month are seriously affected and it's just sad to imagine shit like that is allowed and people are like "well they should've chosen a real job or it is how it is, stop whining".

There is a lot of people which have big money invested in their affiliate sites, there is a people here who spent their last money on affiliate website. Are they a morons like you said?

Calm down little bit, if you have something smart to say then say, if not dont insult, isn`t ethical. I have lose everything and gain it back again, just as you...so think about that how you feel ...

I know it's sarcasm but imagine people doing this. Amazon slaps you in the face and in return you reward them with more sales and more traffic! If that's the case, amazon executives must be geniuses.
 
Then there's the moral aspect as well. They used the affiliates to build the company, and now that they consider themselves invincible, the affiliates get shafted. Granted they don't owe the affiliates anything, but there's the ethics issue as well. I don't see how an affiliate will want to stay with amazon, now that they've shown their true colors. Folks, the writing is on the wall. They don't need you anymore. Get out now. The next move will not be a slashing of commissions, but they'll kill the affiliate program altogether.
 
That's the most idiotic approach to business I've heard for a while - "so what if you earn half, you still earn something"
 
If some of these millionaires were smart they develop a new platform starting with high commissions for affiliates.
 
This is not end of the world. I applied to the display ads as soon as I heard this news finished posting my last batch of review/product articles which will be monetized with amazon still :p Did my kw research and ordered 50 informational articles and those will be monetized them with other affiliate offers in my niche and that will bring me more money mostly in double figures so its basically going to be great for me overall :)

Hope this will inspire all those who are crying over this change. There is always a way it just depends on you whether you wanna take action or cry over things for which you don't have any control. There are affiliate offfers in almost every niche so just find them and take actions.

i just cross the 5k in 30 days mark a few days ago and now amazon is bitch slapping me to the grass. most sites will experience larger than 50% loss in revenue. combined category average is more like 60% loss in income

i sure as hell hope not. why would anybody continue to build a site devoted towards amazon. they more than likely will drop rates again, anndddddd may even drop their affiliate program entirely.

anybody who builds a new site devoted to amazon is a dumbass in my opinion.

Well, most factories probably would have no legal ground to cut pays like that because the people there are under contracts that forbid that. Everybody who is an Amazon affiliate agreed to terms though that allow Amazon to change the commission whenever they want.

I still think giving at least a month notice and base the commission on the purchased and not on the shipped date would have been fairer. Im also gonna lose some money because Amazon has held back nearly all my sales from shipping the past weeks due to the pandemic and now they are all gonna be calculated at the new rate.

I'm also sad about the change and will most likely limit further investments into my US Amazon projects. Still, Amazon has paid well above market rates for years now (they still have comparable commissions to other retailers) and now it has ended. Just like most things in IM come to an end. Its sad that whole families depend on that income and imo the ethically correct thing would have been to give like 3 month notice for everyone to adapt.
 
Guys don't be naive. Big companies like Amazon do not do big decisions at random. Surely they did their studies, and these studied costed them millions of dollars.

They know (becasue they tested it on large scale) that Larry will eventually buy his Samsung TV, socks and cayenne pepper, regardless of whether he firstly read the review on your blog, or read the reviews of the product directly on the Amazon website.

Amazon brand is maybe the strongest brand in the world. If you think that they need affiliates to make sales, you are wrong.
So be grateful for the opportunity they gave you over the years, and still give you (though with worse commission). And if you do not like the conditions, change your business model. Simple as that.
 
I can see both sides to this but the bottom line is Amazon has zero ethics and that's nothing new. I'm a writer and they changed their payouts in 2016. My monthly income went from $3K a month to $250 a month. This all happened in 1 month because there was a 1 month notice. I guess that was better than 3 days.

Yes, it was a business decision but I'm a believer in karma and somewhere down the road there is a payback for being cold blooded. There is no getting around it, a 3 day notice was cold.
 
i can say covid spolied a lot of things , also this kind of work , ppl start do scam ways so anyways all can earn also so just make sure you will not lost .
 
Why it has to be all about Amazon affliliate? Isn't there any other affiliate program in which you can grow just as nicely if you work really good on your site?
Or is it about the traffic on Amazon? Is that the reason that makes Amazon still a good affiliate program despite cutting so much the commissions?

I removed Amazon affiliate native ads completely from my websites and moved to an affiliate network that cares about me making money (40% commission rate) and I'm happy. Doing optimization of ads placement to help increase conversion atm. Will see how that plays out. But I'm not going back to that shitty Amazon. Never!

The smart conclusion is that in the future i.e. in about 3 to 5years, Amazon is likely to slash affiliate commission rates once more.

And who is to say, they won't completely terminate their affiliate program?

It is completely beyond me, why any affiliate would work hard to build an income stream on such an unpredictable platform.

You should consider amazon alternatives such as clickbank or paykickstart
