It takes some time for you to rank. Also, did you do any keyword research or did you jump into the niche blindly? Try to build a couple of web 2.0's to your website and see where you end up in the search results.

I usually let the first 1-2 months be content filling and indexing of website and build about 5 web 2.0's, a few directory submissions and pdf sharing website backlinks. Ranking isn't a over-night thing, it sometimes takes months to see any results but trust me, it is usually worth it in the end.

Good luck!

Best,
hekke

Thanks for your suggestions.
Yes I did heavy keyword researches with LTP to locate some nice keywords(6000+ us local search per month, and competitive analysis index lower than 30).
Am targeting a hot niche with many products always have tens(maybe hundreds) of sales per day, according to the customer reviews on amazon. There's competition for sure but am disappointed that there was not even a single visit to my site. And you know I spent 50$ to buy a silo theme for it.
Maybe it's off topic...
Congress to OP for the success, will follow /learn from you and try to figure out what's happening on my site.

Spend some money unfortunately does not give you the guarantee of success.
I'm selling few products that in Amazon has near to 0 reviews, this means that you do not need best selled products to sell something.

In my opinion the most important part of all process is choose the commercial keywords, ie those which suggest that the visitor is ready to buy!
You can make money with 10 as with 1000 high quality articles, the important thing is bring the visitors to buy with persuasive techniques (call to action, great design and comparing the various products with the competition).

In any case keep trying, you can learn only if you mess :)

Day 8
Google Traffic: 197 UV
Earnings: € 21,21
Total Articles: 139 (+7)

attachment.php

Today some products were shipped (finally) and there were further orders.
The traffic has remained constant but the articles are entering new SERP ranking really fast (as you can see by comparing the screenshot of today with those of the previous days).

Little Conversion Case Study
As I mentioned in a previous post I'm using different tracking IDs to know which link/button/image get conversions!
Well, so far 80% of conversions came from call to action. For call to action I mean this kind of button:

attachment.php

*I'm using my own buttons without the Amazon Logo and this is just as example.

If this button had not been there I probably would have lost many conversions.
I enter from 3 to 10 links per page (products or categories) and I'm using links on images but win buttons!

On other sites the percentage of conversions from the call to action is not so high, it makes me realize that really depends on the niche.
From my data, in a technological niche people is more likely to click on a link, in one in which people are not very familiar to surfing the Internet (thus the non geeks) buttons and images win!

This will make you think a lot about the importance of knowing your audience (I think it's 80% of your success with a site in general).

For today it's all, the fun part will start when I will start building an embarrassingly high amount of natural backlinks :)

Thats the first time i have seen that button, looks like a nice official amazon one so i guess that must help with your conversions. I've seen some people with spam sites use terrible bin buttons before.

Day 9
Google Traffic: 212 UV
Earnings: € 0,00 (few products ordered)
Total Articles: 146 (+7)

Today 278 keywords ranked but I'm sure there are a lot more (SemRush is really slow to update keywords so I am sure that is just the tip of the iceberg, as I can see from Webmaster Tools).
Are also increasing visits from direct traffic, of course I banned my IP from reports through Analytics' filters, so I'm sure that there's this kind of traffic increase (yesterday 10% of total).

This is a good sign because mean that someone starts to follow the site finding interesting and useful informations on it. It is also increasing the time spent on site (+15% on the average).
Hope to start soon natural link building, in the meantime I am preparing a list of possible sites that can accommodate a backlink without pay, more information about this process in the coming days :)

Good Sunday to all the fellas who are working or have already finished (like me :D).

Have you ever experienced a lower conversion rate at Amazon after increasing the CTR on a website? I increased my websites CTR to amazon by 15-20% (I simply switched my themes default anchor text to include an underline), but the conversion on Amazon's end has suddenly dropped by a huge 3-4%. I'm not sure why but it seems like people just stopped buying the items altogether after I made this switch, but it doesn't really make sense to me. I've tested with about 1000 unique visitors on Amazon's side, but maybe I need more data. I even checked my results from 2013 and 2014 to make sure it's not a seasonal thing, and both years were doing fine in May.

Anyways, keep up the great work. I learned a few new things following your journey.

I think the only way to justify the fall of conversions is that has changed the type of traffic on your site (if the CTR from the site is increasing).
From what you wrote it seems that the traffic is made up of just curious people and to buyers.

It may also be that visitors are more likely to click, but that does not mean they will buy more.
To me it never happened because usually if the CTR from the site increases also increase conversions (because they are effective clicks) :)

I have done the same, but I have read that we can only use official buttons/logos/images for linking purposes. What's your opinion on that?

Hope you'll reach your goal. If you have any SEO tips, I'm all ears. :D
If you can make a more specific question I can probably help you better :)

hekke pointed out to me the same thing.
This is why I sent to the Amazon's support the review request of my site so I can understand if it is a practice that can be used or not.

In the Operative Agreement (for EU) I can not find this restriction, so as soon as I receive a feeback I will update this thread.
Although there is to understand that the European TOS is different in many respects from that of the US.
All readers should first check if everything I do is permitted by Amazon in their own country :)

mgsss can be awesome if you can link where you found informations about this restriction

I have contacted hekke who pointed out that custom banners are a no-go, so I find it logical that custom buttons are a no-go as well. I also got paranoid because of that paranoid guy on the 2nd page of your thread, so I'm reading the TOS for the past 2 days and I still can't figure it all out.

Please use only references from Amazon's TOS to confirm or deny any restriction.
Unfortunately there are already too many myths and do not need to create others.

Do your amazon buttons link to product pages, or directly add the product to cart?

I contacted the Amazon Live support about 2 months ago for a manual review of my site. The guy that reviewed my site said it wasn't breaking any TOS except that I cannot use the buttons I used back then.

Actually, I found the exact button I was using. That's the one^. but from what that support guy said, no custom CTA-buttons are accepted. They allow you to use their CTA-buttons on this site. Let's be honest, they are damn ugly.

Use "Click to check best deals!", "Check current price!", "Get the best deal on XYZ product!", etc. instead.

Nice journey OP. How much did you spend on obtain the expired domain? Also the sales you are posting and earning 21.21 Euros per day, is this from the brand new site or combined earning of other previous 10 or so Amazon sites?

Mate thanks for clearing up some aspects, but still expect the answer from Amazon because I'm also using other elements and I would like to have a confirmation from them.
Then I will update

What? I'm not using expired domains, where did you read it? lol

It's only about the website of this Journey :)

What about your homepage? Do you target your main keyword at your homepage (eg: electric razor) or your homepage is just a bunch of post excepts (like in Mashable CNN etc)? Anyway, great journey. Hope you'll get what you're aiming for buddy.

The homepage is just a bunch of post excepts because I'm not targeting any keyword for the homepage :)
