AMA about PBNs (setup, footprints, things to avoid, et al.)

1. What is the maximum OBL on one PBN?
2. whether all the articles must be on the homepage with a minimum length of 1000 words? For Example if I wanna put 8 article (1 link/article to different site) all of the 8 article is must on home page and placed with full article not read more

Yea we've heard about them before, but according to their sales page they only have 274 B-Classes. That's not a lot to be honest. Even if you can get 274 unique dedicated B-Class IPs (which i doubt), you can't run a huge network on it (500+ sites). Seems you also have to use private or registrar nameservers. Not ideal, imo.

Aside from those cons, it looks quite competitive price wise, but for 2 bucks more I get something I completely control.

Not our cup of tea, but if it works for you, keep it up.

Quick note: I don't recommend shared hosting or cloudflare anywhere, maybe you misread? :-)

1. Preferrably OBL = 1. OBL > 1 is fine if you have sites in the same niche (that don't share any footprints) and the domain is powerful enough to pass enough link juice to both sites.

2. If you stick to OBL = 1 on the homepage, you don't even have to use full articles on the homepage. You can make the site look like a business page instead and add the link (surrounded by at least 250-300 words of content) in one of the elements.

If you must add 8 links to one PBN site, then you can use something like content views pro or elementor pro to display full feature posts that don't look like shité.

Having said that, if you are planning to use a lot more PBN sites (20+), I wouldn't recommend to have all of them display full posts. Mix it up.

We have 85 "A-classes", 274 "B-classes" and 2203 "C-classes" as of today. We have one of the most diverse list of subnets on the market. We are talking about dedicated IP addresses, dedicated subnets and not shared IP addresses. We also have 43 different locations from 74+ different datacenters.

We have been hosting PBNs past 4 years+ and providing service to some of the SEO biggest agencies in Europe and North America. I am talking about networks containing thousands of domains. If our service is good for them then I'm pretty sure it's good enough for most people. Also, you are saying that 274 "B classes" is not ideal.. can you name a provider that can provide more of them?

I'd suggest you research what our service does and how it works ;)

Hey so quick question about this, even droplets are shared hosting and the dedicated IP is shared with multiple other instances everywhere I have looked. Where are you able to find 100% dedicated IPs that arent shared with other people's hosting? All of the droplets I have looked at (Digital ocean, AWS, google cloud) all share IPs. As in I have a droplet with XX.YY.YY.YYY and I do some digging into that IP and found other domains pointing to that IP as well that are up and running

First off, I haven't tried your service, so I can't speak to the fullest extent of it. If I did get any facts from your service wrong, that's on me and I apologize. If your clients are happy, that's great to hear. I'm not one to shit on anyone's parade and you seem to run a service that's a step up from traditional PBN hosts, which is great. Edit: Maybe I'll even sign up and check how you do things.

Having said that, my reply still stands valid and is corroborated by the fact that your are not virtually capped for B-Classes when using a mix of DO, VULTR, AWS, Linode, Rackspace et al. droplets and that you can use their nameservers on top, which is what I (personally) prefer and what I (personally) would recommend to run large scale PBNs.

Are you sure? None of our droplets are shared with any other site.

I will double check as I only did one, but the IP I have is showing that http/s is enabled on shodan, but I have blocked all ports except 22
 
Do you think would it be better to have 4-5 domains with high authority or 10-15 domains with lower authority?

Also, why would anyone prefer creating PBN's instead of buying links?

1. If by high authority you mean a powerful link profile, then definitely the 4-5 domains.

2. There are many reasons to create a PBN, just to name a few:
  1. Non-shared link real estate
  2. Control
  3. Quality Assurance
  4. Diversity
  5. 100% topical relevance (both on domain and page level)
  6. If the PBN starts to rank for some commercial intent keyword, it easy to switch it into a passive money maker without losing the link juice
  7. Long-term value
Having said that, for many people it's still +EV to buy PBN links instead of renting them.
Otherwise no one would buy the PBN services here in the marketplace and we'd be on the street hustling the street for some change :)

For new domains we usually always re-create internal pages that have some links pointed to them and then interlink to the homepage from fresh content.

So usually there are no broken internal links when the PBN site is created, as we don't use any content from wayback.

For anything else we either use .htaccess or the redirection plugin + regex (https://wordpress.org/plugins/redirection/)

Overread this, sorry. We would 301 links to subdomains always via htaccess (obviously excluding www.) - if possible to a relevant page with fresh content.
 
@janist How do you go about making sure the existing inbound links of expired domains are not ignored by Google?
Google officially says they do so and while I take everything they say with more than one grain of salt, I've seen evidence that this is really the case.

We always rebuild previous URL structures (inner pages that have inbound links pointed at them) and add fresh new content + an internal link to other relevant pages / the homepage. We've seen best results by doing it this way instead of 301'ing everything to a new page or the homepage.

Mostly to educate. But i'd love for some discussions to evolve or to see some remarks or questions that'll spark some curiosity for new tests or methods.
 
Should PBNs be used for a new money site ? Or should one build other strong links for the first few months before going for a PBN link strategy ?

A dedicated IP address is the one only you can use. A dedicated IP address full of other users would make it a shared IP address, don’t you think? :)
