Am i getting scammed?

So i put up my instagram account for sale, the guy messaged me, we did escrow then he saw that it take 1-3 days, he sent the payment, then he said that lets just do paypal and I'll get the money back, we went on a discord call and talked, and he sent me the full amount, he sent a screenshot of sending it on paypal but i checked my paypal and nothing came through, no emails, but on his side it said it went through so I'm a bit confused. Can he hack me through discord cause we were on the call for around 40 minutes waiting for the payment to go through, and it didnt so i said ill just wait till tomorrow. I feel like somethings fishy in this so I wanted to see if you guys know about any instagram scams that sound similar or think this is legit.

Is your PayPal email verified? If it is not, you will not see the transaction in your activity whatsoever.

If it is email verified, have him send you the transaction ID and call PayPal and ask them to validate the ID.

I've been using my paypal for a while now, email is verified never had problems receiving payments except this one is a lot bigger than what i normally receive, it's 2k so i was thinking maybe they're holding it up because of that. But I'm not sure, the guy was threatening me too, like he was a hacker and stuff and can find my location and dox me or something
 
He can't hack you via discord call :D

thats good cause i searched it up and saw somethings, i mean i was kinda guessing he's bullshitting cause he said he has connections to dark web and like bounty hunters and shit like that, threatening me basically. I just wanted to make sure

PayPal would notify you if there was a hold on the funds.

OP do NOT give the “customer” the account yet, no matter what he says until you get proof the bill is actually paid.
 
If you feel something isn't right don't do the deal. Paypal is a double edge sword in it's self that the buyer can easily open a case and get a refund for just about any reason. I hope he paid via friends and family, no you can't get "hacked" over a phone call, do not send account until you see funds from the buyer.

yea he said he paid friends and family, but would they hold up funds ?

That alone should be enough of a reason to back out of the deal.

Most likely the full extent of the scam is that you accept a faked screenshot as payment proof, and you hand over the account for free. When you didn't blindly accept his faked proof, he tried intimidating you into sending the account anyway.

Even if the proof wasn't faked and the payment really was sent, he'll still have six months to initiate a dispute and leave you with nothing. Just refund his payment (if it was ever sent at all), and find a buyer who actually knows how to be civil.
 
Sounds like scam I had something familiar before on eBay guy photoshopped screen of payment really good just missed out on shipping details and got red handed

Do not sent any goods till payment 101% verefided make sure also save all screenshots of conversation that way you can use them as proof that you sent him product in case he decides to chargeback saying he never got none

Or make him sent payment as fnf

This sounds like kid bullshit, some trash talk. Mostly I would just block that user and cancel this deal. Even you get cash via PayPal, you can have problems with refunds or chargeback. So block him and if you get this cash somehow, just refund immediately.
 
Any time someone starts telling you about their connections to the dark web you should just walk away. Not because of the 1% chance that you are dealing with a serious threat, but because of the 99% chance that you have nothing more to gain from the encounter.
Further, screenshots can be easily manipulated so unless you receive the payment, assume that no payment has been made.
On a final note, the whole "I am not waiting 1-3 days" thing is him trying to rush you. People who are rushed are prone to mistakes. This person has done everything a scammer would do in a situation like this so you are right to be cautious, even if it is not a scam.

The question is if the buyer pays through FaF with his Paypal balance or a credit card. No dispute or case can be opened if the buyer paid through FaF with his balance but a credit card he can file a dispute with the bank and charge back. Either way I say it's a scam.

ahahha well this was a fun ride, I actually can't believe I fell for it, I think of myself as kind of savvy never fell for scams, but this one, he went on a call with me so i never thought that it could be a scam I was doubting it being real but never thought its a scam!! ahaha

Dispute can be opened for FaF by calling PayPal.

How can you dispute a FaF transaction with Paypal? if that's the case why the need to pay through goods and services? once the money is sent from your Paypal "balance" though FaF it cannot be undone, you can however charge back if you paid with a cc. FaF is not a means for payments for goods and services unless paypal updated their tos that I wasn't aware of.

I've experienced this on my own skin ;)
Buyer made FaF, then buyer called Paypal and PayPal refunded him without even opening the case. Called to PayPal and they told that buyer delivered good evidence and they cannot restore transaction.

Wow, then Paypal had violated their own tos. Since the money is being sent as a "gift" and not a goods and service it would negate the buyer protection. Whoever that person called the customer service rep must have took great pity on them to refund when they were not supposed to.
