Am I being hacked here?

There was very unusual behavior from my computer after downloading the zip file from this thread

I did not even open the folder where the zip download was present.
But somehow, I cannot reply to that thread [AND ONLY THAT PARTICULAR THREAD].

First time in years, my system gave Blue Screen and restarted.

And again, I'm not able to place a comment in that thread.

Moderators, please remove this thread if you feel that this is just coincidence as I don't want to hurt anyone's genuine tread.

You tried to delete browser cache and cookies and try to reply? Still doesn't work? Then it's probably related to the thing you downloaded.

Dunno about the blue screen, probably related to this too.
 
A zip file doesnt run in your pc, only files that end with .exe, .bat, .vbs, etc can be runned on your pc. maybe you just ran a virus in your pc to cause it a blue screen or a crash in a critical processes (sometimes shit happens without reason especially if ur using windows)

I agree. But that guy developed a popup advert which is invisible to browsers (which his thread is all about). So, possibly he knows a lot of things that we might not. -Just a theory. Not blaming him.
 
If you want to hack into someone's computer then the goal is that the person will not notice it and will not find out.
No hacker has an interest in declaring that they have been able to hack your computer ... because then they will actually have more difficulty exploiting you for profit :p

If the hacker's goal was to inform you that they were able to break into your pc then they would leave a big sign or message announcing it :rolleyes::p:D

This is probably just a coincidence :D
 
I tried replying to that thread (I haven't downloaded the file) and couldn't. Could be locked by mods?
 
Since he said it was click jacking, click jacking is a hacking method to fool users in order to gain access thru ur pc but I doubt that dling that zip file and not running it is the reason why you got a blue screen.

I checked the html file it just loads the .json file there using the unity 3d plugin . And its invisible because he set it to 0px or 0 pixels which is interesting as it circumvents adblockers.
 
Maybe he is just making army of infected computers.
And tell me one thing how did you believed that guy and downloaded his given files? The way he wrote the whole post clearly showed he is an kis from third world country.

zip file can't harm your pc untill unless u open file inside the zip ...it may be possible that it is happening because of another file..

The entire thread has since been deleted seeing as downloads are not allowed in that part of the forum.

I have also checked the thread out, the download mentioned came up clean when scanning with virustotal so I don't think there is any issue with it.

OP, especially so, if you did not open the zip file then its unlikely to have done any damage regardless.

I'd say its more than likely a coincidence and something else has caused the problem on your computer.

I would suggest running a virus scan with your own antivirus software and also looking in the event logs and running some stress testing tools to try and pinpoint whether the issue is coming from a software or hardware related issue.
