I use to like Namecheap because the "whois" domain protection that comes with the registration and they accept PayPal which was convenient for me.

But losing a domain that was bringing in good $$ every day just because some shadow organization says that my domain includes their F***CIN Trademark is a big turn down.

The Orginal complain was misleading content and Fraud and when I sent them all the required proof as they asked then they shifted Trademark shit.

Never been pissed with any domain provider before like I am now with them.
I have more than 10 domains with them for me and my clients

No man, go with NameSilo. They accept PayPal, Bitcoin, other payment methods and provide free who.is protection. I got over 500 domains with them.
 
Can't see GoDaddy ever being a good choice. Go with namesilo, name.com, internet.bs, or cloudflare. Not sure which may respond more positively to possible trademark issues - but GoDaddy definitely won't have your back.
 
NameSilo is the place to move to, they were the guys who offered lifetime privacy for free, long before Namecheap.
 
How can you "lose" that domain? It was attached to your name, right?

Had so many copyright complaints back in my CPA days but never "lost" a domain.

Doesn't matter, if a different party lodges a complaint for trademark it can be taken away. Some (better) registrars will only respond to C&Ds and elevated claims, but others may just roll over and give it to the one who lodged the informal complaint to avoid potential headache on their end.
 
Namecheap has forced me to send them my domain once because of a DCMA claim too or the lock wll my account with them which had many other domaine and hosting account attached.
I had no choice butbto transfer it

Godaddy is your second mistake.

And before blaming namecheap, did you even check the domain word on uspto.gov and trademarkia? If u can't find anything registered, send them a screenshot. I have not heard them suspending domains instantly like this. Very weird. Double check the word properly on uspto and trademarkia.

Then namesilo, name.com, dynadot are good choices over godaddy.

Yes, I have been emailing back and forth for 3 days and every time they come up with another excuse until i got the attached email today.
for me, it's time to move on but your suggestion is appreciated either way.

There is a difference between a "complaint" and a court order. I can send out complaints all day I want, they have no legal ground to enforce any action. Even had fights with Paypal Brand Risk Management in the past, but since I know how to "defend" myself before sending them a legal letter, normally those things never escalate to court. If you respond in a non-law-orientated writing style they probably just think that you are a small fish and won't go the extra mile.

GoDaddy is just the same, they transferred some of my domains to a competitor after a fraudulent trademark complaint (I was the trademark owner), and I had to threaten court action to get them back.

I have received the same complaints with NameSilo, but so far I've won all the disputes with minimal effort, and zero downtime or fraudulent transfers.
 
personal experience with them is nuffink to write home about which is why I'm compelled to respond to these threads. like I said before be careful with them. the namecheap I once knew has changed for the worst to say the least from my experience. they roll over too easily without a fight. I think the techs are also very lazy, problems that can easily be taken care of will end up with you having to upgrade resources by force. if someone comes in to complain they give the complainant the benefit of the doubt as against you their customer which makes me wonder whether they're not in cahoots with them. I do not want to talk about my painful experience bcos in the end I will reveal too much detail. but think twice if you are with them and advice yourself going forward again to say the least.

Losing domain in this case does not depend on provider in my opinion. It would have happened with any other provider as well.

Personally i moved from godaddy, had my own issues there and cant recommend. I will open with Namesilo though to diversify. Always good to spread out and have options.
