Found a great domain, bought it, then next day I saw it up for auction for thousands.
yep, same happened to me. That's godaddy alright...
One of my sites got some malware even though I was paying a premium and then they tried to upsell me again.
Then they used a bunch of fear tactics to make me buy the most expensive malware removal service.
and this is definitely godaddy too
just feels like they don't care anymore
they never have. I've got scammed twice in a week by them back in the day (2009 or so), so they've been being pretty scummy back then too, I don't think they've ever been legitimate
Anyway, if all you care about is .com I think you should give UnstoppableDomains a try, they're selling .com domains (up to 100 per week, per customer, I believe) for $5 on Fridays, which is over 3x less than what Namesilo are charging me.
Now, I admit that I'm not too familiar with UD (I barely recently started using them, and only because I've purchased some domains from someone who had them registered with UD), and you might not like it overall (at least I'm not a fan of their interface and feel in general).
But - like I said - if all that you care about is registering .com I have yet to see a registrar that has better deals for this TLD than UD... and their support is pretty good too... and human too, none of that AI infestation that's clogged up all of the industries, so at least they've got these going for them that makes me consider them a solid option. Now, if they could also give up the crypto crap too.... chef's kiss!
I appreciate all the suggestions. Thanks!
Not sure if there is a close thread button so this doesn't keep getting bumped.
click on the "report" button beneath your initial post and ask a moderator to lock the thread. But I wouldn't do this to be honest, as - as new great offers get discovered - people might want to mention them here, which will benefit us all. So, I would personally keep this thread unlocked, but it's your call, of course
