The story how they track down the owner of alphabay - dark web market, people called it dark amazon. The owner earned more than $500m annually via bitcoin.

My conclusion after watching this documentary is..

- Don't do / sell any illegal things. In the end, they still gonna found and catch you.
Even if you're in Thailand or any other country.
- There's no such thing as privacy. You gmail message, facebook messenger, blackhatwold inbox, skype, sms, phone, etc all of them always get read by 3 person(who?), keep in mind that.
- Anything that you posted on the internet, will stay on the internet, forever.

It's a good documentary but this is almost the same scenario as the SilkRoad one. This guy just left footprints all over the place. How could you use a regulary eMail adress as a provider for welcome messages on a Darknet Board? Of course feds are going after the hotmail adress. That is where he went wrong and i assume that if they didn't uncover this secret then he would've not been caught to this day.

Ah nice, can't watch it now but I will later for sure.
Been a long time since I'ev been on a deep web market and last time i checked, most trusted and visited markets were down.

As Heiko said, he made a huge mistake by not covering properly his footprints. I mean, you don't need to be paranoid about that like lots of people that will try to cover everything for every minor shit they're doing, but at some point, especially when it comes to money, that's where you need to cover your tracks properly..

That's what government/media want us to think about.

The real reason to get caught is not that basic... he was IT guy (won't do the mistake of keeping an email acc for that long... even I change emails every 1-3 months)... The government has way too much manpower and intelligence, they designed TOR before internet-privacy was a thing for the general public. This is possibly 'cause of some webgl+network asn+DNS+canvas+mac+browser+os+hardware+font+audio+lot more fingerprinting. (Hi three-letter-agencies

Anyways the most cybercriminals are 18-25 so it's a problem of education system+jobs - our education system has failed to provide good morals and jobs after completing college. It'd be way better, putting resources in giving education and jobs rather than wasting them to catch bad boys after failing.

The hackers stole some 7.5 terabytes of data from SyTech

I don't really believe this part though. 7.5 terabytes of data is shit loads. I doubt they wouldn't notice such a huge leak not to mention whoever downloaded all of that should be easy to trace but then again I may be very wrong.

Tell me about it, I didn't want to comment until I watched the documentary though. 500 million a year would be on average 41.66 million a month, I doubt that on average the sales within the whole market would even come close to these figures talk about "earnings" for the owner. LOL
