Almost reached $10k on Fiverr

Inspired by @Negi Ji 's post about his earnings, I'm going to speak about mine. By the way do visit his thread, lots of good advice inside!

I was a long-time lurker of BHW so I have learned many things from this place: Marketing tactics, problem solving, found lots of motivation and made a few good friends.

A big Thank You for the BHW community that helped me in my journey to earn a living online.

A few key things regarding making money with Fiverr:

1. Fiverr being a place of cheap and quick jobs (or buyers looking for the same) is a myth. You can land on projects that last one or more months and deal with respectful buyers (that may also tip extra money).
2. Responding in time and being professional at all times, regardless of how the first messages seems to look, can go a long way in getting unexpected opportunities.
3. Keeping your clients updated daily is something that will keep them assured they're in good hands, even if your progress isn't going too well at some point, just send a quick message you're working at it (and then do your best to complete it).
4. There's a lot of opportunities inside, if you take the time to spy/research what others are doing, their gig details, reviews received/given.
5. I was having pretty much zero knowledge in the niche when I started, but I did two things: First, having the initiative to post the gig (and not trying to perfect the offer while keeping in a vicious loop of never posting it), and second, started to get implied and learn about it so I can deliver my best on it.

I won't specify my niche, but I will try to respond about anything else regarding Fiverr.

Congratz, how long did it take you to reach that amount? Also after registering as a seller, when your first order came?

Should we focus on gigs with low competition? Or that doesn't matter a lot?

What about buying reviews?

Stats are for about 6-7 months. First order came in about two weeks after placing the gig up.

Those earnings are for about 6-7 months of having the gig up. Didn't buy reviews, my account is some good years old, having a few reviews for some old gigs (my general rating was about 3,5 because someone gave me 2 stars back then, but that's a long story)

I'm from Eastern Europe. I started on Fiverr many years ago but rarely got orders, until I placed a gig that was in demand. Stats are for 6-7 months of earnings (95% of the income is from that one gig).

It's about digital design, can't name the exact niche. And I'm not talented in design, but design tools will help along with finding inspiration online.

I didn't really thought about competition. I mean, I have checked other sellers having similar gigs who seemed to do well, so I entered the pie. Instead of focusing on uncovering some hidden niche, I just looked around and saw what is in big demand, then tried to deliver on it like others do.

I believe good reviews can help, but in my case I don't think it played a role to land on the first order. I've had a 3,5 star general rating. But then, I did my best to be nice with buyers, and even over-deliver, so 5 star ratings started to quickly accumulate for that gig.

Very IMPORTANT: buying reviews will help you maybe to get traction and start getting orders. But, if you don't deliver so that you'll make buyers satisfied, this will start to fall back. You may get poor ratings, no returning customers, and no word of mouth marketing, which probably is going to sink the gig/your service.

My account is some good years old, but the earnings are just for 6-7 months of running the gig (which made 95% off the sum).

All-time, and 95% off it is for 6-7 months with one gig.
