Yesterday was my birthday, so I decided to make a trip to the Huangshan Mountain (also known as Yellow Mountain). I was renting a car from a very popular company in here and they gave me a pretty solid car (built in 2017). In total the roadtrip should take around 4 hours, mostly on the highway.

After around 150km on the highway the tire on the right front suddenly "exploded", while I was driving 130kmh on the left fast lane. On the right slower lane was a very old and big truck and I was just about to take over, but around 200meter before the tire exploded, which made me lose kinda control of the car and slip right to the right lane. If I would have been ahead of the truck or right next the truck while the tire exploded, I would crash right in him or in front of him at high speed. Just a few seconds, unbelievable. Also lucky there were no other cars behind me or near me.

Thanks to Gran Turismo Sport, my Logitech G29 wheel and the settings of the "Force Feedback" (plus my 100 hours of gaming) I could get control of the car before crashing into the guardrail. This really helped. This was all just a matter of seconds and maybe I was lucky to have the right reaction.

Got out of the car and checked what just happened. Take a look on this tire.

Here is the highway. It was really hot outside, in the middle of nowhere. I had to change the tire, which was pretty easy (never did it before). It was a real pain to call the company and get the instructions, since NONE of them could speak english probably. They added me on Wechat and used a translator to communicate with me.

BY THE WAY: Another huge risk were the other guys driving car. They dont care about any rules. All the time I was changing the tire I had to look out for some idiot not crashing into me, while they are playing their phone.

Now here is the thing: After I changed the tire I went to a car workshop and they checked everything. One of them told me the tire pressure was way wrong. In combination with the hot weather the tire would just explode. Also the tire was very poor quality. This shit made me really angry, since the renting company gave me a car in a dangerous condition. Like it was just a matter of time since this would happen.

Ended up meeting with some chinese friends and going to the renting company, since I cant speak chinese. They told me they dont want me to sue them and they want to give me lots of money...lol. I don't even care about the money...like they could buy my health/life.

Today someone from this company will call me.

Glad you are alive man! Things like these are somewhat a wakeup-call. It makes you think that you shouldn't take life for granted and it could be over any second.

I know the renting company can't buy you a second life, but i'd rather chase after the money than not recieve anything at all, don't ya think?

Damn, that is crazy. I'm glad you managed to sort the situation out and survived. Stuff like this can make you re-think your whole life lol, it can give perspective to things.

Considering how much they sue each other in China, it would be interesting to see what you could get from this situation.

Funny though :D

All the best man!

Glad you're okay..happy birthday.
This makes me really think because I'm renting a car in Cyprus right now. Giving it back today though

I didn't know whether to laugh or cry at this;

Back in 1985 I did my police driving which was skid pan, pursuit driving, high speed night driving etc and yes I've driven at speeds double what you're talking about but my ability is from actual professional training, not from gaming.

I'm glad you're safe and got the situation under control. Hope the rest of the birthday wasn't as hair raising.

Not fun to brush shoulders with death.

Glad everything is OK.

What doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger. Literally in your case.

Edit: Happy Birthday!

Wow dude this is like being born again, Heppy Birthday! So lucky and prepared for that situation.

Happy birthday mate!

Live again, you are our brother.
