I also found a Pntrst toolbar add-on that will pin a block of text. Sadly, when i tried to pin a blurb from one of my aff products I noticed the link went to/through the guys that create the text pin, something sketchy about it i didn't like...anyway posting the right text may bring some clicks

you have to be careful about adding certain toolbar add on most of the guys who are developing are ok but some are malicious who will try and sneak your traffic to their aff links

Awesome discussion, guys.

The only thing I want to add atm is that I've seen some decent free infographic tools, but there's really no substitute for a good designer with professional tools. Infographics have real viral potential, so you might want to make the investment if you have a great concept.

The two tools that you will need to create awesome infogrphics, hands down, are Adobe Illustrator and SmartDraw. Anything else will create inferior results or will really limit you.

IMPORTANT: If you use a plugin to place a Pinterest button at the bottom of your infographic (which you should, imo), integrate that into the design. Create a flap at the bottom of the image where the main infographic is peeling back, and then put a call to action right above the button. ;)

Also, it is generally fine to place your logo or branding into the infographic, but keep it small. People don't care about who you are, so if you make it too big, it might be a turnoff.

Finally, as someone else mentioned, your infographic needs to be controversial. You can avoid drawing conclusions on your own, but the stats that you provide for both sides of the issue should incite heated discussion.

Amazon Promotion is the way to go. I think this would work great, have your own blog and choose product which relates to women. Make a detailed review of each product in your blog. Then Pin them once you have lots of followers. I ain't making huge since I don't invest a lot of time but I still make an over $40 per day which is pretty decent because I barely work for 40 minutes on Pinterest promotions.

It's been reported that Pinterest is replacing Amazon affiliate links with their own.. sneaky, huh?

I wouldn't use Pinterest in this way anyway, as Pinterest users will eventually wise up and avoid anyone who uses affiliate links. (IMHO) I'd rather build trust with Pinterest users and use it to steer traffic to my blog, where I can host my own affiliate banners, etc.

Just tagging along here. I've never been on this pinterest site before. Is this used for backlinks ?

Here is a video I made a few days ago...Pinterest marketing can land you in google SERPS first page.

I'm pretty sure that Pinterest is a no-follow site, though I've heard that there are some instances in which links are do-follow. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

More importantly, the direct traffic that you can get from it is insane.

It would be interesting to see if something less obscure could rank.

Note: Guru's video contains a plug for a website that takes up, idk, 50% of it. So..you are forewarned. Well, I guess not, since the video is above this post.

A few notes to help you guys out,..

You should divide your pinterest action into a couple phases,

phase1 - Gain followers:

- **Dont do any marketing**
- Pin/Repin to appropriate named boards (ie dont pin a Shoes pin to a Home Ideas board :P)
- When repinning either use the original description of some generic spun sentence (more chars the better) along the lines of "wow thats just what i was looking for, i cant believe i missed this one ... blba bla"
- When harvesting popular pins etc repin/pin those to Stuff i like and boards with wide descriptions and use the original description or similar
- Follow people (goes without saying)
- Follow people back who follow you!!
- Dont unfollow anyone at this stage.

phase2 - Do more of phase 1 but slow down this will make sure people dont think your just another spammer :P

phase3 - Split test your marketing either over a few accounts or a few boards!

- Its always better to have more users pinning slower than 1 user pinning its tits off
- Follow people back who follow you!!
- set unfollowing to around 14 days

Now your at a pretty much premo place to hit it hard based on your split tests (you did do those didn't you!)

ps. be careful when reusing links too many times and malforming your pins/repins.. its a one way ticket to captcha town and higher rate limiting on your account

I think we've covered most of that. The concept of split-testing is interesting.

I find it funny that you are promoting a $297 software on a forum that has a downloads section. Most of us are aware of The P!RTE bay, and torrent technology. Good luck with that though. I wouldn't have commented if you're sig ad wasn't so in my face.

To demonstrate what I meant about integrating calls of action into graphics made for Pinterest, I'm attaching one that I just made to promote my GoodReads group. This took me about an hour in Illustrator. This program is well worth the investment. You'll save money in the long-run if you get it and learn how to use it.

Anyway, there are 2 calls to action in the graphic. One on each side. The arrow literally points to my GoodReads link.

You can see it on the site, here:

Now, if you're basically promoting a commercial endeavor, your content needs to be focused on a buffer subject. Selling Shoes? Make a great graphic featuring well-clad feet. Don't try to sell anything, and don't link to your store. Link to a well-written blog-post that links to your store.

That's all I have for now, I think.

Oh, and if you are a Kindle author and you want to join my group, feel free. It's a great promotional avenue. The gist is that we retweet and repin for one another. Knoweth, however, that if yee spam, I shall bringith the banhammer.
