They found some micro algae in a rock they're calling a meteorite. When the article says their tests rule out terrestrial contamination, that strategically leaves out what was included in the tests, and how many parameters were tested for. The rule out could mean they only tested based on the presumption the formation was a meteorite, and found no sign the algae came later.

What if the 'meteorite' is debris from algae-laden rock hurled from a volcano, hence from earth? If they used dating methods and presumed they are accurate to determine the ages of the algae and the rock, who's to say if the presumptions are correct? Some rocks in Hawaii that are known to have been produced following volcanic eruptions in the early 1800's, radiometrically dated out to being hundreds of millions of years old. I'd say hold off the celebrations until it's known how truly comprehensive (and honestly self-critical) the testing metrics were.

I agree that test still need to be done but reagarding the rock..i quote directly from the article "One stone, for example, had a density of less than 1 gram per cubic centimetre, less than all known carbonaceous meteorites. It had a partially fused crust, good evidence of atmospheric heating, a carbon content of up to 4 per cent and contained an abundance of organic compounds with a high molecular weight, which is not unknown in meteorites. On this evidence, Wallis and co think the fireball was probably a small comet."
Also what made the biological bodies on the rock unique was the fact that they were fused into the rocks rullin out any terestrial contaminatino.Nevertheless, like anything in science futher tests need to be done b4 arriving at answers.

In a universe with uncountable galaxies, stars and planets, of course there is alien life. We only know about 0.5% of the universe so yeah, aliens are real. We can't be the only form of life.

Their 'tests' ruled out the possibility of terrestrial contamination but I'm skeptical. This happened in SE California like a decade ago and as science improved and clever people thought up different ideas/tests it was shown that the 'ET life' was in fact terrestrial contamination. Now, find some life not on this planet and I'll happily buy it in a second I certainly believe there is life out there somewhere.

This is from a commenter on the site:

This "meteorite" has not been recognized as such by any meteoriticist to date, nor does it appear in the Meteoritical Society's online database of all known meteorites: (http://www.lpi.usra.edu/meteor/). It does not appear to be a meteorite based on earlier pictures released by this team, which were left out of the article here: (http://www.theufochronicles.com/2013/01/proof-of-extraterresterial-life-found.html), and for some reason is only shown in black and white. For more reading, have a look at this article which examined the "extraterrestrial" life found in this rock and determined that they are not only terrestrial, but are examples of organisms alive on Earth today (http://www.slate.com/blogs/bad_astr...wickramasinghe_of_diatoms_in_a_meteorite.html). Which is reasonable, considering their samples were "collected from rice fields" - not exactly a sterile environment.

You always have to take this with a grain of salt. There are so many people looking for fame that something this big will need to be oververified before it's accepted.

Well its a matter of time before they do futher tests and release results. But preliminary results clearly show that the rocks on which the biological fossils hitched a ride on clearly came from space!

The same thing or similar ones were claimed a lot many times but none proved 100%

Yes, I'm not arguing the rock/material is from space but what I'm saying is that what were believed to be 'ET life fossils' last time I read about something like this were actually earth life fused in the rock from the heat/etc. or from material it landed on I can't remember which. Once its on earth there is a high chance that life signs are contamination from it being on Earth, which is why I'm saying I'll believe it when they find it in space.

I went to Cardiff University and wouldn't really trust the results. We are talking about a university that stitched kittens eyelids together "in the name of science".

Wait until other third parties have analyzed it before you jump to any conclusions.

Just busting! This may also address the origin of life too!
Yh it is indeed a great leap towards understading life as we know it.If ur interested u could check out another article on how building blocks of life as we know can be cooked up in space if u may lol!

This aint no joke..i suggest u go check it out...they have all kinds of tests and evidence there. Its indeed ground breaking stuff if u think about it!

If you think about it, it's pretty damn scary. Can you imagine the worlds reaction towards aliens? You've lived all these years and you suddenly find out you're not alone.

Yh it is indeed.Kinda makes me think how ppl might have reacted when they were told the world wasnt flat or when they prooved the earth is not the center of the universe.Truly historic stuff if it turns out to b 100% alien life!

Can't find anything about this on any .edu sites. We'll see.

Of course we're not alone...space is never ending so how the f*** could we be the only ones out there? lol.

disclosure wont happen yet, world is not prepared to hear such news if they did hear it from our government it would be catastrophic
