Alexa Ranking

I've been looking at alexa ranking lately since I see a lot of webmasters making such a big deal over it (even though alexa itself admits anything over 100,000 should be disregarded as innacurate....) & ran across this article:

It's a bit dated, so I wanted to see if anyone has done the javascript trick the author is talking about to boost your site's alexa rank? Apparently whatever they did got them to 80,000 within a few days, which is pretty impressive...

yeah I use a script to lower alexa, works well and seems to give a boost for organic rankings

Even some BIG sites use such scripts to improve their Alexa. compete.com is the most accurate one but it measures from the US traffic only

I agree with you about alexa being pointless - people like it because it's supposed to show value in your site, so you can ask for more $$$ in advertising, etc., but it really is just bs.

compete.com gives a better accurate traffic ranking and it can not be manipulated. It uses US traffic only.
