[Alert] Don’t check domain availability with Godaddy

Do you think godaddy steel your domains? last night this very old expired domain i checked with godaddy and now its been taken and registered on godaddy. I was wondering if godaddy is safe to check domain availability anymore.

I saw people talking about Godaddy steeling domains in different groups. So make sure you lot stay away from Godaddy, its just my opinion and want to know if anybody else have experienced this?
Yes!! same here they steal domain and make them premium :(

It's been suggested as long as I have been a member on here that GD were doing this.

Personally, I've never come across it nor seen actual proof from people. That being said, I stopped using them for domains about 6 years ago.

What company do u use for your domains?

I own nearly 30 domains on GoDaddy. I use another tool to check domain availiability but GoDaddy is my main domain registrar so if I do check something there I'll almost certainly buy it. This pattern must've flagged me somehow, because lately if I check a domain but don't buy right away, it is gone the next day. It happened THRICE in less than a year and is very fishy to say the least, because the domains are not even popular keywords and always longer than 10 characters.

So yeah there's definitely some fuckery going on.

Yes that happened to me too 6 years ago. I checked a domain name and it was available and very next day it’s registered on Godaddy and they are selling it as a premium domain.
same here

I prefer namecheap, got over 160 domains on them for years without any problems. Amazing company with amazing support!

Yes they do.....some years ago they even added premium prices on some domains when you could get them on other registrar for regular price.
Very shady

I have been using namesilo for about two years and have not had such issues. Once I searched for a domain on GoDaddy and I started receiving sales calls the next day.

Who do you use nowadays? I got caught in the whole Alpnames fiasco a few months back. Looking for someone more financially stable to hold/buy my domains from.

The majority of mine are with Namesilo now, they set the benchmark and offered free privacy for life etc. I also like the security of the "Domain Defender Alert - Account Access5 " emailed notifications.

I have a dozen still with Namecheap, plus 5 or 6 single domains with other registrars just outta laziness.

I've also got a domain stuck at Alpnames.

I had the same experience with my own domain that I forgot to renew. I checked and it was registered.

if they find its valuable. they would flash that everywhere. so buy it immediately that would be best option.

Ah.. I am very astonished to learn how Godaddy and NameCheap are doing this sort of business. To the present, I have been booking all my domains from Godaddy and NameCheap. I found them to be most easier to transfer to clients.

I hate to burst anyone's bubble, but Namecheap do the exact same thing

I've had this happen to me they still your domain and hope that you are stupid enough to buy it back from them at a ridiculously high price
