Do you think godaddy steel your domains? last night this very old expired domain i checked with godaddy and now its been taken and registered on godaddy. I was wondering if godaddy is safe to check domain availability anymore.

I saw people talking about Godaddy steeling domains in different groups. So make sure you lot stay away from Godaddy, its just my opinion and want to know if anybody else have experienced this?

It's been suggested as long as I have been a member on here that GD were doing this.

Personally, I've never come across it nor seen actual proof from people. That being said, I stopped using them for domains about 6 years ago.
 
A few days ago I checked that one of my domains was available for sale on GoDaddy.

I thought it was a kind of mistake, and now with this news it put me on alert. :eek:
 
I stopped using them just half a year after I started with IM (in 2011) after I noticed their customers account system is full of traps just to take you as much money as they can. Everything is complicated, slow or broken.

Customer satisfaction 1/100.
 
I own nearly 30 domains on GoDaddy. I use another tool to check domain availiability but GoDaddy is my main domain registrar so if I do check something there I'll almost certainly buy it. This pattern must've flagged me somehow, because lately if I check a domain but don't buy right away, it is gone the next day. It happened THRICE in less than a year and is very fishy to say the least, because the domains are not even popular keywords and always longer than 10 characters.

So yeah there's definitely some fuckery going on.
 
This has been talked about since the last 15-20 years back .. I always search for domain at
iwantmyname, they are a serious company BUT expensive, so then I register them at NameSilo or Porkbun mostly.

am currently on a dispute with them concerning something similar a very good expired premium domain i registered,i got content and then goddady just took it and locked my account. i provided them with all docs they refused to unlock my account. they want to refund me but i don't want since they get to keep the domain

Godaddy is the absolutely worst domain registrar you can choose.

I'm always moving any auction domain I buy away from them. Well, at least after their 60 days waiting period... crooks.
 
Yes that happened to me too 6 years ago. I checked a domain name and it was available and very next day it’s registered on Godaddy and they are selling it as a premium domain.

Godaddy doesn't give a shit about their customers, it's all about squeezing the most money out of their customers.

You should move all your domains to https://internetbs.net/ or https://porkbun.com/
It will save you money and headaches in the long run.

How there's even internet marketer still using Godaddy is honestly beyond me.
 
GoDaddy is only great for their $1 deals then transferring out when possible
everything else about them is trash
especially their customer service
 
noob on transfer, currently I on Go Daddy , let's say one day I plan to move to other host , I can move all my stuffs to other host ? despite I already pay for one year?

next noob on transfer , so the domain name , SSL still on Go daddy side but host is on new provider?

If you are going to search for the domain, you better buy it instantly.
You need less than 10sec to process your order if you have your paypal logged.

Any domain provider can steal your domain, even if you follow this speedy buy.
It is like you came to my house. How you think, you can request anything?

Be realistic. Any service provider can f you.
 
I am in the domain business and I have checked a fuckload of domains for availability - never experienced anything like that, not in GoDaddy, not anywhere else. So from my personal experience this is (mostly) tin foil hat conspiracy - there was registrars that did this long time ago (sorry cannot find the article) and was hammered by ICAAN because its immoral if not illegal practice. That said, why on Earth anyone will use GoDaddy for anything, but their auctions? Prices are outrageous, their system is bugged as hell, they try to sell you bunch of useless crap and good luck waiting in line for their support. Dynadot and namesilo are way, way better.
 
No idea, but I never used them just because they do shit like this.
 
Namecheap is doing this as well. Once they blocked me from registering a domain and later tried to sell it to me. After investigating and chatting with them I figured it out it was them, who registered it.

I was already paying for the domain, but then they just sent me a refund and said something went wrong, then registered it themselves.

I don't even think it is the company itself doing this. There are a few employees trying to take advantage of their "power".
