Thanks for raising the idea of an AI-based pre-check for BST sales threads. We’ve been closely following AI progress and recognize its growing value across many fields, the Marketplace included.
Right now, though, today’s LLMs still generate too many inaccuracies and “hallucinations.” If those slip through, sellers would receive misleading guidance, and our staff would have to handle extra disputes and manual fixes across multiple departments. We’d rather avoid introducing a system that might create more problems than it solves for now.
In addition, every team is currently occupied with projects already on our roadmap - one of which is a simpler, clearer update to the Marketplace Rules.
For those reasons, we won’t be adding an AI BST pre-check at this time. Once the technology matures and our internal priorities open up, we’ll gladly revisit the concept. The
Marketplace Rules are really not that complicated. But you'd have to go through them once. We'd also add an additional feature (soon) to stay up to date with all the changes to the Marketplace rules, specifically designed to enhance the sellers' experiences with the Marketplace rules and processes. So, that's a bit of a preview of what would come soon
All opinions on the matter are appreciated as usual
I can't believe I had to submit my sales thread multiple times before it was finally approved. Each time, the moderators pointed out different issues that needed to be corrected (either its product or just words), as if they hadn’t fully reviewed the thread from the start. I found it extremely frustrating because I was only informed about what was not allowed after I submitted the thread. It would have been much more efficient if the moderators had provided a complete list of what to include or exclude right from the beginning. The whole process was a hassle, and having to revise and resubmit my sales thread repeatedly made it even more cumbersome.
We appreciate you sharing your experience and understand the frustration that comes with multiple revisions.
Looking at your submission history for this particular sales thread, we can see there were
12 iterations before approval. Each revision introduced new rule violations that weren’t present in previous versions, which is why our staff couldn’t identify all issues upfront. Some were just reiterations of issues we've already mentioned. Here’s what we found across your rejected submissions:
- 1 x superlative claim (highest/fastest)
- 1 x failure to provide required account access after multiple requests
- 1 x mention of additional categories without explicit pricing
- 2 x vague references to account types without pricing (e.g., “VPN Accounts”)
- 4 x additions of prohibited account types
- 1 x request for rejection on your end
- 1 x addition of non-IM related accounts
- 1 x missing call-to-action
- 1 x “#1” ranking claim
This pattern suggests the core issue wasn’t incomplete staff reviews, but rather ongoing changes to your sales copy that introduced fresh violations with each resubmission. Our
Marketplace Rules and
Content Standards cover all these requirements upfront, although it seems as though you did not read them.
We’d recommend thoroughly reviewing these guidelines before your next submission to ensure a smoother approval process. Our staff works hard to catch issues early, but when content keeps changing between reviews, new problems naturally surface that weren’t there before.
