[ AI & PROGRAMMATIC SEO] Creating a massive Authority site

Introduction:

Over the past month, I have been diligently working on the development of a custom platform designed to host and create a multitude of blogs with ease. The platform encompasses a range of innovative features, including bulk import of categories and posts, internal linking, AI-driven content generation, and more.

In order to thoroughly evaluate the effectiveness of this software, I will be putting it to the test in a real-world scenario, addressing any bugs or issues that may arise, and refining its capabilities further. I will provide regular updates on my progress through weekly reports.

Rather than concentrating on link building, my primary focus will be on generating high-quality content with minimal effort invested.

Case Study: European Travel Blog

As an initial project, I am developing a blog centered around top travel destinations in Europe. Initially, the content will cover capital cities in Europe, with articles generated using the GPT-4 AI model. Over time, the scope will be expanded to include additional cities, countries, and continents.

While it remains uncertain whether the site will rank without links due to the highly competitive nature of the niche, the primary objective is to refine and perfect the custom tool.

Progress so far:

1. Secured an appealing domain name.
2. Created content for one continent, three countries, and their respective capital cities, including five subcategories focusing on accommodations, activities, and more.
3. Generated five posts for each city and subcategory using the GPT-4-powered tool.
4. Implemented automatic internal linking between posts within each category.
5. Integrated authoritative sources into each post automatically.
6. Designed a basic blog layout.

It took just over five minutes to generate a JSON file with ChatGPT and import the categories into the custom tool. Additionally, the platform generated category introductions automatically.

Next steps:

1. Add or generate images for each post and category.
2. Consistently create at least one post per category daily, potentially increasing this number to 5-10 as content generation takes merely 1-2 minutes for all categories.

Core Strategy:

The primary goal is to streamline the blog creation process by leveraging Programmatic SEO, thus allowing me to focus on launching new websites and further developing the SaaS platform.

There is still a lot of work to be done, to perfect the strategy. Currently I am still working on the structure of the page and making it SEO and User friendly.

I am currently adding breadcrumbs and such elements to make the structure of the page as close to perfect as possible.

It took me a bit more than a month, but I was working 16h days 5-6 days a week. I'm using Next.js for frontend and api, Planetscale for DB.

Thank you for following. I'll probably be uploading them manually for some time, until I get the image generation working. I have a solution for alt tags using AI (since alt tags should describe what is on the image, not to inject some SEO keywords or whatever.). But I will be probably using a hosted service of Stable Diffusion, or if Midjourney decides to open up their API, I'll definitely change to that.

Update #1

I have started another site in a different niche. It is just so using using my software that I think I can run around 20 sites and still make sure they are all kept in order.

Site #1:
I have seen some traffic come in, around 10 clicks a day. Site #1 has 25 posts with images and internal linking done.

Site #2:
Site #2 now has 20 posts with images, internal linking done. Not too sure about this site, since the competition is really tough.

I haven't signed up for adsense or any other ad network, since I am still just testing the waters.

SaaS work:
I have improved my prompt by a tenfold, and I think it's really one of the best prompts for writing articles out there. I have incorporated search intent and now GPT-4 generates an article out of topics, gives me image placements, what should be on the images, quotes from experts, links to sources and table of contents.

This week, I will also be recording videos to show people how to use the tool. I have created a FB group and a YT channel and pasted them in the navigation on the homepage. I have also generated a Privacy policy and terms of service.

Conclusion
Sorry for no updates, I have been busy as hell perfecting this software.

Update 3​

Since the last update, a lot has happened. I have been homeless and slept in my 120$ car. I have just got a very interesting high paying job in a different country and I will be relocating. Real life has come in between me updating the journey thread... The sites have all been updated and I actually started another one in the sports niche.

Site 1​

I have currently 49 posts on the travelling site. In a "destination", I have fulfilled about 90% of all the topics for that destination according to keyword research. The competition is high, so I am not sure how many articles, if any will rank. But there are some keyword clusters that have potential. I have also began expanding the content to a different "destination" and I am slowly adding 1-2 articles per day for that one. I think the structure of the site is well done. I have submitted the sitemap to GSC, but Google hasn't indexed the pages.

Site 2​

I have changed the Site 2 from WP hosting to my SaaS hosting. I have added about 3 posts, so the site now has 28 posts, 10 of which are indexed. I need to set away an evening for this site and do more keyword research, create a topical map and add new content. This site is the only one getting traffic ATM; but I am not that passionate about it, so I am not that productive. Hopefully with some discipline that will change. I bought my girlfriend a new laptop for her birthday, so she can help me with work. I want her to take over this site, so she will create, edit and post the content.

Site 3​

This is a new site. I bought the domain on May 4th. It is in the sports niche. The domain is a combination of the 2nd and 3rd most popular keywords that include the name of the sport. I have added 11 1500+ word articles with internal linking, images and structure... I have submitted the sitemap for this site just today. This niche has pretty low competition, but there are not that many informational topics to write about. As I am passionate about this sport, I really wish this site to perform well. Hopefully it does.

SaaS work:​

As I was homeless I was taken out of my routine for a bit and focused more on the sites rather than marketing the SaaS itself. I have not done much work on it, other than some styling changes, sitemap generation and hired a QA expert to test the site... I will be working on the SaaS mainly during the weekend, where I am free from my client work and my job work.

Prompts:​

I have updated the prompts. I actually now have a 2 step process. I use 1 prompt to generate an outline for an article. I make sure the outline is on topic and not too broad, but enough to cover the whole topic. I also add a list of main & secondary keywords to the prompt, so it generates a sort of a keyword optimised outline.

For my Writer prompt, I have modified my existing prompt, where instead of a title, I now include the title with the outline I generated before, plus the list of keywords (Main & secondary keywords). It seems to work well for longer form content as I am getting anywhere from 1500 - 3000 words articles. We will see how the longer content performs.

What I'm doing this week:​

I have some programming/SEO work to do for my current client. I have a meeting with a potential new client. Add content on my sites. Teach my girlfriend how to create, edit and upload content, so I can focus my attention elsewhere. Search for apartments in the new city and plan my moving there soon.
