Yeah, please, give me your haha, because I’m a very introverted guy still relying on dating apps, sad but true.
And AI… the same crap that’s generating those shitty videos on Xvideos and YouTube, low-quality songs somehow ranking on Spotify, garbage comments on BHW, and spammy articles all over the internet, apparently destroying every human experience it touches, is now ruining dating apps too.
Here’s the main problem for me on apps like Bumble and Tinder: people are using Gemini or ChatGPT to “upgrade” their photos. Now everyone suddenly has super high-quality, professional shots. Even grandmas are posting princess-style portraits. Or Disney-themed photos. Or those dramatic, cinematic rain-on-the-street pictures. And TikTok is full of tutorials showing exactly how to generate these perfect AI photos, and people are actually doing it.
So what’s the problem?
The problem is that ugly people suddenly look like supermodel versions of themselves. Their facial expressions, imperfections, everything is fixed. They look way better than they truly are. This was a problem ten years ago, I'm sure, but right now, everybody has access to it, so it's out of control
Then, when you meet them in real life, you get disappointed because the expectations were built on something that isn’t real. Lmao, we're so cooked, even my Tinder old ladies and MILFs on Bumble are illusions now.
And I’m speaking as a guy, but I’m sure plenty of men are doing the same thing and “scamming” women with ultra-edited professional shots. It’s not a gender-specific issue.
Have you ever met someone from dating apps using AI to look way more beautiful and got frustrated during the first meeting?
