Ahrefs shows weird numbers

Hello,

One of my sites behave weird on Ahrefs.com. I had approximately 1.5K backlinks 10 days ago. Then I took diversify service here on BHW and I got report. It is built approximately 2500 backlinks to my site, so it should be max 4K backlinks on Ahrefs is all backlinks get indexed by Google, but they are not, only 10% are indexed until now. Problem is that I see huge increase of backlinks everyday on Ahrefs, approximately 500-1000 new Backlinks daily and currently it is over 9K Backlinks. Referring Domains did not change much, maybe +100, but nothing significant. Anchor Texts did not change yet, even though all newly built links have different anchor texts from top ones currently showed.

Majestic SEO shows normal number of backlinks that should be, little bit over 3K which is understandeable.

What the hell is going on with Ahrefs?

Ahrefs sometimes works hardly, with some mistakes, or unbelievable numbers...
But, I advice you to be more attentive, and check more frequently count links with help Majestic.

It all depends on the where the backlinks are coming from. With ahref i have seen that once they crawl the backlinks they don't update all the time after they crawl them and when they hit deeper links they do no update where they first found the links. I would stick with majestic for the most up to date and use ahref as a general source. IMO. Hope i made sense....

it's not a problem of ahref. Sometimes, some domains will automatically build a lot of tags within the site. Hence, it will increase your backlinks. Nothing to worry about.

Some domains give you multiple pages with your links so crawlers differ in the way that they work.

Fret not, systems are imperfect just like us! It is a common problem as when GSA-ed, some domains do enhance your keywords and tag clouds by mass spamming! In the end, all these backlinks just link to a mere domain.
E.G:
xxxxxx,com
xxxxxx,com/1
xxxxxx,com/a
etc. list goes on till 1,000 and A-Z respectively
