Ahrefs is moving to New Pricing in 2022!

We’ve been continuously developing our product, expanding our infrastructure, improving our data and releasing new useful features. But our pricing structure has barely changed since 2015.

So in early 2022 we’ll be introducing the new usage-based pricing model with stronger feature differentiation between packages.

Here’s some preliminary information for the members of our community, before we iron out the official announcement for everyone.

WHAT WILL CHANGE:

1. The weekly “per tool” reports limit will be replaced with a global monthly limit. This is actually a pretty popular request, as many of you have asked to reallocate your report allowance from tools that you don’t use to those that you do use.

2. Free “inactive” users. Right now you can buy additional user seats. But lots of managers are hesitant to add more users since they’re unsure if those people will be using Ahrefs on a regular basis. With this change you’ll be able to add your entire team for free, and we’ll only charge a monthly fee if that person was using Ahrefs in that month.

3. “Pre-pay” option + “Pay-as-you-go.” We want to allow our customers the flexibility to expand the usage of their accounts as needed. You’ll have an option to purchase permanent account expansions while your subscription would be "pay-as-you-go" by default. The latter would be very convenient when you need to overuse your account for just this one month, instead of pre-paying for a permanent account expansion and then cancelling it.

4. The “7 day $7 trial” will be discontinued. Most likely we’ll provide a “trial on demand” option for selected customers instead.

WHEN WILL IT CHANGE?

The new pricing will be released around January 2022 and it will only apply to new customers.

More details to follow soon.

Damn. Can't use the trial accounts anymore lol.
They removed the free tier in 2017 and now this. Gotta pay to play now I guess.

Number 4 going sucks, I hope they give some option for 7$.
With the trial we can get a trial and get keyword for 6 months for multiple site for $7.
We just can't do this with group buy.
They know this and now want to do what, needs to be seen.
But thanks for heads up. I will get a last trial before end of the year.

So they know that their system is being abused on a massive scale and instead of providing a reasonably priced subscription they are increasing their prices.
Abused is a heavy-handed word for ahrefs. We're still paying actual money for the privilege of using it IMO. Yeah, we're "limited to one" but is that any different than 1 pack of toilet paper per customer and a family of 5 each carrying one instead :anyway:

I was referring to their $7 trial option as it was being abused massively by people just buying a new trial instead of buying a 1 month costly subscription so instead they are now closing it in the hopes that people will start paying for new monthly subscription.

I see the end of groupbuy services.

I always looked for groupbuys but you end up wasting so much time. Ended up just buying and getting back to work and making some dang moola.

How will this work, from a pricing perspective - I am assuming the price will remain more or less the same?

Hmmmm how will group buy get around this?
