Ahrefs DR vs Majestic TF: Which is the Better Authority Metric?

Who cares about made up metrics. It comes down to uniques. What are your uniques on your site? compared to 4 weeks ago compared to 3 months ago? You always post these one quick sentence threads. Do you actually own any assets youself, or you still just guessing about how this industry works?

I remember when i was a noob i cared about da, and tf, like it was the be all and end all. They are really insignificant. People with crap domains check their tf every week, as if once the magic TF number changes, then the'll grow, lol At least thats what i used to do! :D

Both are useful but measure different things — Ahrefs DR shows a site’s overall backlink strength, while Majestic TF focuses on backlink quality and trust. DR is better for quick domain comparisons, but TF gives deeper insight into link credibility. Ideally, use both for a balanced view.

From these two DR.
I find TF highly inaccurate.

But they both share one fundamental flaw.
They are not search engine metrics.

Their purpose is to mimic PageRank and give webmasters an idea of link power / authority.
But they don't have the same vast data as search engines do and don't use the same algorithms for evaluation.
Fundamentally they are destined to do poor job at this.

I do look at the metrics and take them into account when evaluating domains/pages.
They are good for spotting extremes.
But overall they should be taken with a great grain of salt.

I fully agree with everything you said here, but can you please stop using bolded letters? They make my eyes bleed :)

DR is perfect for following the progress of link-building while TF is suitable for evaluating the quality of links and their trustworthiness. To summarize, DR indicates power and TF indicates trust. For the ultimate correct SEO from both metrics, i.e., DR for measuring authority increase and TF for verifying clean and reliable backlink profile.

Totally different metrics
TF +10 means your site is what it says and trust worthy. Like EEAT.
Ahrefs 20+ means your site is authoritative in a niche.
Of course, traffic overrides both metrics. Your site must have lots of traffic.
