checking DA of couple of websites on Ahrefs and Other tools like small seo tools..

DA on other tools - 14, 16
DR on Ahrefs - 2, 3

which one should be considered or is there other tool to check DA

They should but be taken with great grain of salt.

They are just indicators using their very own and different algorithms.

Neither is PageRank. (which is what they mimic)
Buying an expired domain... What should be considered DR or DA..

I would say 10+ I each to have at least some kick.

But really you have to check the links manually.

When you are buying the expired domains please check backlinks and anchor text thoroughly. Sometimes DA or DR metrics can be manipulated, mostly in case of DA. You can get to know that by checking the backlinks.

Forget the DA completely, it's bullshit.

Focus on combination of DR and referring domains. DR isn't an universal metric in a sense, that the bigger the number is, the stronger the domain is.

DR30 RD30 domain is not stronger than DR20 RD200 domain. You have to consider the combination of both of these.

Referring domains is the primary rule of thumb that tells you how strong the domain is. But, you want to make sure that those referring domains are not utter crap and that's where DR comes into play.

And even then, DR is just an estimate. Your best bet is always checking everything manually, but I admit that it might take thousands of checks to be able to take a look at the backlinks and evaluate them properly.

While I take Ahrefs more seriously, these metrics are not something you should rely on as they don't guarantee ranking. Even though the top ranking sites typically tend to have higher DR, high DR does not automatically confer ranking on any site.

I think DR is not as important as other metrics. Da is important and you can check in SEMrush.

yes both crawlers and the metrics dependency is change bro .

Ahrefs dr is totally based on backlinks so is ahrefs , at least it was like that few years ago.
Having said that both ahrefs dr and moz da can be easily manipulated.
The one that's more stable and accurate is semrush Authority Score plus you wanna check traffic.
To answer your question, none.
Check semrush AS.

Most of the tools shows different data, but you can consider Moz for DA (domain authority) and Ahrefs for DR(domain rating).

Don't think about matric everything easily manipulated only focus on traffic and quality-related backlinks Only :)

I don't get the obsession with "metrics can be manipulated". That's another one of those arguments that has been parroted for years.

Who manipulates the metrics? PBN and guest post sellers, sure, okay. If you are buying these links from someone where you are concerned that manipulation might be the case, then you shouldn't be buying those links in the first place. Or just simply check Ahrefs or Semrush for traffic and backlinks. If there's obvious discrepancy, then the inflated metrics are the least of your concerns.

Who else can fake metrics? Domain sellers like me for example. Again, check for newly created backlinks in Ahrefs or Majestic and you can easily spot backlinks created to inflate the metrics.

Bottom line is, that algorithms of Semrush and Ahrefs will still do a better job of gauging the strength of the domain than 95% of people concerned about metric inflation.

DA (Domain Authority) and DR (Domain Rating) are indeed different metrics used by different SEO tools (e.g., Moz for DA and Ahrefs for DR). When buying a domain, ensure that it has a clean history, absence of penalties, and relevance to your niche. Additionally, check for spammy anchors and backlinks. After all these checks, assess the DR-to-referring domains (RD) ratio. If this ratio appears realistic and aligns with your expectations, you can consider buying it.

You are taking these score in wrong way. Let me try to correct..

Different backlink audit tools like Moz, SEMrush, Ahrefs, Majestic etc. keep crawling the backlinks to offer their SEO backlink audit and competitor audit services and have created their own metrics to give users a score based on the backlinks data that they have gained. Here is a brief overview of that -

DA (Domain Authority) and PA (Page Authority) are used and provided by Moz
DR (Domain Rating) and PR (Page Rating) are used and provided by Ahrefs
AS (Domain Authority Score) is used and provided by SEMrush
TF (Trust Flow) and CF (Citation Flow) scores are used and provided by Majestic.

Various score checker tools like Small SEO tools, have to use these backlink audit tool's APIs to provide that score. So if you see above metrics in any other tool (like checking DA in Small SEO tools) then the score still belongs to Moz as its coming through their API. And if you want to check particular score most accurately then check in the main tool itself like check DA in Moz, DR in Ahrefs and so on.

Different score in different tool - it is obvious because these tools have different source of backlinks data and calculation of the score is also different in each, they all crawl backlinks separately and create own database. None of these backlink audit tools can crawl entire web and so not able to find all backlinks that a website have on internet. They can crawl only a small portion of it and their score is also based on that.

Which one should be considered - Google do not consider any of these tools. Google has its own algorithm to find the authority of a website and have largest crawled data of webpages as well. These third party scores claim to show the ability of a website to rank in Google but in actual they can not. You can't rely on any particular tool as their data is limited and these tool scores can be manipulated too.

You can just use these scores while comparing your website with your competitors and for that you can consider checking in as much as tools so that you can get a broad view of the worth that particular website have.

DA is the metric of MOZ
& DR for Ahrefs.

Both crawling systems are different.

Semsush will also show AS.
which means Authority score.

I would advise looking for the backlinks instead. I made a huge mistake last year in buying an auctioned domain that had a DR of 35 but had spammy links.
