I am beginning to learn After Effects and have already done some amazing videos. Before I dive too far into the program I want to know if there are better video creation programs out there.

I absolutely agree, AEs is definitely the King and the industry standard when it comes to creating and editing high end videos

I honestly don't think you'll find a better program

One more votre for AE, you won't find any better and more powerful.
It is to video creation and editing what Photoshop is to image edition. Simple as that :)

Thanks everyone! I had a feeling but wanted to check for time management reasons.

After Effects is really good for VFX and motion graphics. I use it all the time. For video "editing" in general, you can try Adobe Premiere.

any sample video you have created that you can share with us?

AE is the best software for video editing and video making

One good alternative to AE is The Foundry - NUKE or NUKEX

This. NUKE is more focused on compositing and visual effects. It's like AE but minus the motion graphics, and all that other stuff, and only specially for visual effects.

Final cut pro motion is a great program! and sony vegas also does the job really good!

Sony Vegas doesn't even get close to a comparison with AE. Adobe's alternative to Sony Vegas is Premiere Pro, not After Effects ;)

AE is the best but its time consuming plus it require a good desktop. Check out Videocopilot, learn the tutorials there and your beast!

If you're looking for motion graphics AE is king of the mountain.

If you're looking for quick editing, composting, color correction AutoDesk Combustion is faster and has a more intuitive workflow.

I agree with allot of people on here,Ae is dominant, I've heard of nuke or nukeX,its meant to be a cut down version of Ae and easier to use. Haven't used it myself but some industries have stated to use it for graphic effects.

Hi, I actually have a Masters in VFX for film and television, from a top tier University. My masters was specialised in Nuke, I'm a top rung nuke operator, I use After Effects for a lot of jobs, mainly for time. I work in nuke for photo-realistic cinema work you can spend months perfecting and After Effects for fast easy jobs like web promos. The only time I use nuke for a web job is when I have a bit of time and I want to brush up my nuke skills.

I have various qualifications in both if someone needs a hand with something PM me and I'll try and help you out.

AE is the best for any type of effects. U can search the secrets of AE software in Google for any type of comparison with other software.
