I've trawled through the forum and there's been a alot of different suggestions on what platform to use for making an affiliate store via datafeeds. The mains suggestions have been price tapestry , affiliate store (current version is 2.1) or just use a common CMS like WP or Joomla.

With Common CMS's I can see there being alot of tweaking where as the other suggestions are born for this kind of job. The negative feedback for affiliate store was that it's hard to rank well due to the lack of content produced from the datafeeds. And as for PriceTapestry, it's kinda pricey to try and see if it does the job I want.

So I'm directing the question out to those who actually know about this.....
What would you recommend to do this job? If it's WP or Joomla what plugins do you use?

Thanks for any advice (good or bad).

less than 20 pages and or if your a noob, use wp (i don't mean that peps using wp are noobs)

ever increasing sites with more than 20 pages, and if your planning on making a few, get used to using joomla, its the dogs balls, and plenty of easy to implement affiliate plugins

If you want a REAL store, then use open cart.

    About OpenCart...

    Dear OpenCart staff,

i'm really disappointed to see these concept & logical errors for SEO.

With SEO Url i've seen 3 (and probably more)link who generate DUPLICATE CONTENTS per products.. absoulutelly the best way to GET PENALTY from Google and other search engines thanks to your bad development.

Have you some kind of SEO basic concept? Do you know that the same page with different URL is a duplicate content?

Is it normal for you that if i add a product under a manufacter i've a new page url? and even if is in a category? and even in the home page?

    Such a Scandal!!!

    From home page: http://sbt.ap.it/modello-mac
    From Manufacturer: http://sbt.ap.it/apple/modello-mac
    From Category: http://sbt.ap.it/desktops/mac/modello-mac

Those pages are the same, and i'm going to get penalty because of your wrong concept! (not only me... but everyone).

Have you a quick solution for the whole community who is getting penality because of your ignorance in SEO?
I hope to get quick answers to prevent mass blogger action to talk about this horrible issue.

    IS IT REAL?

Thanks for the feedback guys, still not enlightened any further. I'm comfortable with joomla but there's not any decent affiliate plugins that I can use product feeds on. The best one I've found is here on BHW my UKescuba. But for a huge site this would take a long time configuring and hard to monitor updates. For my small sites it works perfectly. Still Looking....so keep the feedback coming

Popshops might be one solution for you.

They have different options depending on what you want to do.

It is difficult to find the right plugins.

Using a paid tool might just be worth it in the long run.

total nonsense, don't belove a word of it, that person hasn't bothered to update their product descriptions from the basic template, and is expecting the "blogging" community to come to their rescue.

Would be interesting to see more suggestions on this topic.

    Here is a neat workaround:

ECWID is an excellent online shopping cart and WEB store builder developed by Russians and powered by Amazon Web Services so its quite good. It allows you create online catalog of your products for sale. For each product you may add name, description, images, options (such as color and size), different payment methods (Paypal, authorize.net, Google checkout and other), different shipping methods, etc?
Once you created your catalog ? ECWID gives you snippet of HTML code ? widget that you may embed into any blog or website that allows javascript. Once widget is embedded into page ? that page becomes fully functional beautiful online store.
Fun part of it is that you may create 10 websites and 20 blogs and paste into each of them your online store! ECWID even allows you to have free account (limited to 100 products) to build fully functional online store. You only need to add/edit/update your products in one place and changes will automatically be reflected in all your sites!
ECWID does not include integrated affiliate tracking, however thanks to Wordpress and new MemberWing-X you are in control. Starting with MemberWing-X 5.432 you may signup new affiliates and add complete affiliate tracking for your ECWID-powered online store. Please note that this feature requires paid ECWID account.

If you integrate MemberWing-X and ECWID you can
Offer easy signup to your affiliates directly via Wordpress ?register? link: YOUR-SITE.com/wp-login.php?action=register
Anyone who registered automatically becomes your affiliate. Use their email addresses to send them affiliate payments via Paypal.
Allow anyone to build affiliate links to your store even without need to signup. This is achieved via links like this:
    YOUR-SITE_com/some-page/?aff=affiliate (at) email.com
Allow any affiliate to build affiliate link to any page of your site. This is named ?deep linking? and is very powerful way for affiliates to promote your store.
Allow to set the order of priority between first or last affiliate who referred sale to you.
MemberWing-X affiliate tracking happens automatically and does not require customer to click anything
MemberWing-X affiliate tracking does not require customer to be redirected to any fake ?thank you? pages with invisible image links embedded.
Affiliate tracking works with any payment processor supported by ECWID
Affiliate tracking happens via cookie. You may set cookie lifetime to any number of days you want.
Lower affiliate links visibility by changing affiliate prefix from default ?aff? to something more creative like ?sweet? or ?yes?.
Every incoming affiliate link helps to increase organic ranking of your online store and attract more visitors.
Track affiliate ID as well as customer?s IP address for any sales that passes through ECWID online store. This could be very helpful for extra conversion analytics and statistics.
Affiliate ID and (optionally) customer?s IP address is made available to you via ECWID backend admin panel.
