Affiliate Marketing Help?

Hi there,
I have a lot of questions I would like answering about aff marketing. Thanks in advance.

1) Say I had an affiliate website marketing tablets (handheld tablets/ipads, not drugs

), apart from adverts and the affiliate links on the site, how else can money be made? Is there a way I can link to review sites that review these tablets and make cash?
2) How much do you make from affiliate marketing, if anything?
3) What is the most popular affiliate marketing website, for simple products e.g tablets, not complex sites like insurance comparison, ect.?
4) What is the major problem that needs to be overcome with affiliate marketing?
6) Any tips for making an affiliate site less obvious to the customer?

This is all I can think of, for now...

This is all I can think of, for now...

1. Apart from selling the physical product yourself, I 'can't think of another way. You can make cash by selling your links to review sites. The problem here is that your link needs to be highly desirable. You would need site with some authority and or some good PR. People like to get links from sites with more authority than theirs to give their sites a boost.

2. There are many people on here that make thousands and thousands a month off affiliate marketing alone.

3. The guy above answered that. The most popular in my opinion is Amazon Affiliates.

4. Getting targeted traffic. You need traffic to get conversions. Obviously, the more traffic you get the better your conversions are. It can be just any traffic though, it must be targeted traffic. You need people that are interested in what you've got. SEO is one of the ways to obtain traffic. This can be tough with Googles zoo these days.

5. Help them solve a problem. You can provide some type of value by writing articles. Don't just slap a crappy article up expecting conversions though. If your building affiliate pages for tablets then you could write an informative article about something related. An example could be "2013 Best Android App Roundup", or something to that effect. Just be helpful. You've got to get people to trust your referral to whatever affiliate product you're pushing. Google also likes sites that provide value. If you're talking about throwing up an amazon store type site, then I can't help you there.

I have a few points to add:

2) it depends - usually when a company launches the affiliate program, and if the approach is solid, it can make a drastic impact on profitability. You may suddenly hire a ton of promoters and you do not pay beforehand - just for results. It's common for a company to have 50-80% of it's income due to Affiliate activity.

4) major problem - good affiliates with good traffic. And this is a hit-or-miss game - there is no recipe to hire best affiliates. In my experience, Super Affiliates often come from very unexpected sources, so you probe every source you can reach.

or from the bottleline, what exactly is affiliate business or industry? what does the word 'affiliate' really mean here? why not just use ads or help advertiser promote their products?

that is a form of affiliatship as well. Basically, your goal is to facilitating sales or generating leads for the merchant (depending on the model of the affiliate program).
It usually is up to you how you want to do it. Creating a new dedicated site or placing banners on the existing one, or both - whatever you find most suitable for you. F.e. in CPA model (CPS in particular) it all boils down to "catching" the prospective customer and leading him to checkout page.
