I've been lurking here for a bit, I'm looking for advices and help. I've been sick all my life with a degenerative illness, Muscular Dystrophy and the last few years have been rough. I'm a Senior Network Engineer (worked for ISPs for long) and I got sick a few years back. I had pneumonia, but no symptoms. It took me way too long to get treatment. At 33 years old, I was living with my girlfriend in an appartment. I live in Quebec, Canada and lived in Australia for some time. I'm in an electric wheelchair. I finally went to the clinic and they rushed me to the ER. I almost died. There's 2 weeks I have no memory of. I ended up with a hole in my throat, a tracheostomy, hooked up with a respirator as I could not breathe properly by myself. I also now have a gastrostomy, a feeding tube. And the daily care needed is so intense now that I can't live with my girlfriend. I was moved to an old folks home as I couldn't get the help needed at home. I lost my job, it took me more than a year to get better physicially. Through all that, I decided not to give up and sincerely think that I'm not done yet. Now, I've been in computer security and networking since I've been 14, I was a black hat until I reached 18, I stopped when I had a few run ins with the law. Anyway, I'm looking for any advices for someone in my situation, any extra income would be a life saver. I can work, I learn fast and I'm creative. Thanks!
