Advantages Web 2.0s vs. Private Blog Network

Whats the difference between the two?

Is there even a point in building a private blog network? Since web 2.0s are free and should basicaly do the same... or am I missing something?

Yes, you are missing a lot!
Basically PBN are waaay better because they carry weight to your main website.
 
PBN have authority and pagerank, they can literally launch your keywords at the top of Google in most cases, web2.0s are fine too but they are not totally yours. They are getting nofollowed in most cases.
 
Web 2.0s unless on the root domain won't carry much "juice" what so ever - Places like xxx.wordpress and xxxx.blogs etc.. won't carry any juice until you push links to the web 2.0.

So if you buy a couple expired domains within your niche, that already have links in place it'll -
1) Already have the age/authority in place, rather than having to create it on an essentially new domain
2) It diversifys the domains coming from
 
You build web 2 .0 to your PBN.... they work great.
 
You have to send a lot of link juice to your web 2.0 to make them valuable. This takes a lot of time, and they can be deleted at any second. PBN, you can point links to your site and it will jump up in a day or two.
 
Also, it's very hard to manage the Web 2.0's and keep track of everything. PBN's are great for link juice and well worth the time and $$ investment. I crawl the internet for expired domains and find hundreds of quality domains each week so I would suggest this rather than Web 2.0.
 
Legit looking PBN >> Web 2.0s

Expired aged Web 2.0s are a substitute for PBN.
 
Private network can be web 2, your own blogs. There are a lot of people who say it works great with a combination of platforms. I have never really found out for myself whether that is indeed the case.

I have taken help from the smart/kind people around here to get Web 2 (esp. Tumblr) blogs that rank. They did help, but not for long.

If you have the resources, the time and looking at something long term - start with a blog network with domains that already rank.
 
I prefer Web 2.0 Blogs, Because 1 PBN minimum cost you around 150$. So 10 PBN with PR 3 Will Cost you 1500$. So In 1500$, You can Build 15000 Web 2.0 Blogs. Which if Used with brain can Get Better Results.

I agree with safex. web 2.0 doesnt cost you a dime while PBN is way too expensive
 
Both have it's good and bad sides, using both is the best way to go...
 
I prefer PBN because of the better already existing link juice.
 
PBN = Juiced Up Web 2.0s

They are basically the same thing, it's just one is already a "finished product" and the other you will have to work to build authority to.

Not really. I managed to rank websites with 1 original article i buyed on fiverr and spined it for 10 web 2.0. And trust me it worked many times

Yes, may work for crappy KWs worth max a couple hundred bucks a month.. but when you get into the big numbers, that sh*t doesn't work AND you'll loose rankings once Penguin & Panda re-run.

Also, how you gonna get these indexed? If they're on sub-domains.. Unlikely they will without spending time or money on building links to them to get them indexed.

Actually it works pretty well. With a few twists it's a great method for ranking.

and takes quite a bit of time and effort.

Again - You need content (which either costs money or time to write) and links to get the sites indexed and pass juice - Which also either costs time or money..

For someone just starting out in SEO without a dime to spend but a lot of free time, this kind of method is FANTASTIC!

My method of making web 2.0s -

Step 1) Build up the 10-20 profiles you want to build the content on (Blogger, TypePad, Wordpress, LiveJournal, RebelMouse etc.. Are all good)
Step 2) Either create 10-20 DIFFERENT articles, or create 1 and manually spin them
Step 3) Post the content to your web 2.0s - Try to include relevant imagery, videos and change up the designs/widgets/sidebars on your web 2.0 blogs.
Step 4) Use niche relevant blogs that you actually read then post comments on them (With your web 2.0s within the URL field) - This'll get them indexed fast, and though most blogs will be NoFollow it can pass link juice

GG - Best method for newbies/no $s people looking to build up a solid, manual link profile.
