Adult links effecting SEO

I've been mining into my competitors backlinks (I run an online adult store) and I've found that they're getting quite a few links from adult tube websites, currently they're ranked 1 - 4 within my search terms. I thought google penalizes links from adult xxx websites? Or has this changed?

If you run an online adult store many of those links will be relevant and source of traffic. You may be penalized for links on adult websites if your product or page as nothing in common or context but it sounds like your competitors are in context still.

Google does not penalize some website just for having a couple of bad links. Or else everybody would only do negative seo, because it would be much cheaper, faster and easier. Think about it. Google knows that links from viagra, porn etc sites will not be relevant and therefore will not carry a lot of juice. Otherwise, the internet would be fu**ed!

But these sites are ranking highly with mainly just adult tube site backlinks which is bizarre. Do they pass any link juice at all if they're relevant links? e.g. in adult tube video descriptions?

Adult sites linking to other adult sites are OK if they are related, If XXX links were penalized it would mean none of the adult sites would rank. It contains a lot of the same keywords like - sex, adult, dildo, vagina, dick, cock etc. So google will see that as relevant.

If you have adult store then it is OK to get links on the adult websites, because in this case the adult websites are actually your niche websites. But, you need to choose and target the keywords wisely as linking to these websites may also cause irrelevant traffic. Because people here also search for XXX videos, books etc. So, you need to be choosy on the keywords and also need to make the list of negative keywords.

You can submit your website to adult directories, adult DMOz, discuss the things in adult forums, creating informative videos and user guides related to your products. But, make sure you only build link on niche websites.

google still index adult site and content, and if you have link from related niche, it is a plus

Adult links for adult sites are good (Good relevant links). Adult links for normal sites are bad.

for an adult base site, adult theme based links are more relevant so it's all good.
