how many days do you have to wait after getting "action temp blocked" message from instagram

I had to wait 48 hrs. It should say it in the actual error message.

mine does not say anything, it is just a generic action blocked statement...

It’s usually based on the age of your account. If it’s rather new it’s 48+ hrs. Pause the particular activity that caused the block (usually excessive liking) for a couple of days to be safe.

the accounts are all 1yr+ old, maybe wait 24hrs?

Depends.
There are 2 types of 'blocks'

Soft block - 24 Hours
Hard block - 72 Hours

Keep in mind that once you blocked it's recommended that you will shut down any botting activity and put your account into 'sleep' mode so he can recover from the temp ban. Make sure to use Dedicated proxy to reduce your chances to recover. Sometimes blocks can be even for 1 week.
