Accept credit cards? besides paypal.

If you want to set up a membership site checkout MembersGear membership software. It works with the PayGear affiliate marketplace and they can set you up with the lowest fees merchant account there is. Plus they will provide you with an Authorize.net account and wave the signup fee. Awesome system.

You are going to find that all of the payment processors are going to be taking fee's, this is how these services make money and there is no way to avoid this.

Paypal is one of the easiest programs to work with and that is the only one I use at this point.

Have you tried Stripe?

2.9% + 30 cents a transaction. It's works like Paypal (embedded), acts like authorize.

As much as I loathe PayPal, for recurring subscriptions they are really hard to beat. I tried going the merchant account route, and after 2 weeks Wells Fargo closed my account (they don't like membership sites and claimed that I was too high risk). No matter how you go you are going to get hit with fees! I am paying $60 a month plus a percentage of each transaction to PayPal, and at the end of the day it works out to be LESS than what I paid with the merchant account (statement fee, PCI compliance fee, fraud suite fee, subscription manager fee, authorize.net fee, fee fee fee fee).

You can use Paypal as everyone here suggested. Their integration is easy and you have all your financials in one location. On the flipside, Paypal has their issues with not protecting the seller in case your buyers file chargebacks and crap like that. I use them and it is a bittersweet relationship with us. :-)

Hey the problem you had is that you went with Wells Fargo. You need to get a bank that deals with High Risk.

Actually Paypal is fine until they limit your account. Their is much bigger power when you have a Merchant account, especially membership sites.

You have more control of the data and your not hand cuffed to follow 3rd party rules. Just like anything else you need to have a redundant system. It's good to actually have multiple different billing cascades, so just in case one is decline or fails you can swing it over to another account.

You will actually find that you will end up making way more money with your own merchant account
