    Hi everybody, quick question.

Do you think that it is possible to get a good daily unique visitor total (~3,000 Uniques per day) without the use of SEO? For example, if I build a website based around quite a broad niche, will my site eventually pick up traction if it has enough content or will it remain at the depths of the internet, getting no attention?

Thanks for any responses in advance,
    Ben

Search engines aren't the only source of traffic. You can get traffic from social media, e-mails, return visitors, backlinks (especially if you get one on a popular page), and even from users who saw your URL somewhere (even if it was offline).

However, if you plan on just creating content and not doing anything to promote it, you can't expect web users to just stumble upon your website.

Thanks for the reply! Maybe I didn't really elaborate correctly. Do you think that I'd steadily see an increase in traffic if the content was there but I was using absolutely no traffic driving methods, including web 2.0s and emails? In essence, would it be possible for people to just stumble upon my site?

I've only tried creating content and not promoting it in any way once before. The site only got about 1 or 2 visitors each week.

Whether it's using a search engine or clicking a link, web users need a way to find your website.

If I recall correctly, Maddox's website started off the way you're describing, but his site has been around since 1998.

Thank you, really appreciate the feedback on the question. I think that you are probably right, especially with how saturated pretty much every single niche is in today's age. Maybe I should look deeper into improving my SEO skills!

You can buy traffic, use social media and advertising both offline and online. I have built websites and not done any SEO at all. Some came good and some didn't. It depends on a lot of things, however the excellent advice from Zwielicht is true, you do need to do some SEO, backlinks etc.
Imagine it's like opening a brand new store, stocking it with products and then building it in the middle of nowhere. The internet can be a huge desert, you need to be seen

That's a great analogy! How good are the SEO packages here on BHW? Ever tried them?

Ok, I see. Maybe I will do the same and see which ones seem to have the best feedback.

I bought many seo packages in the past and most of them are far from what I expected and so is the result. If I were you, I'd build tier 1 myself, then use service here on bhw for tier 2. This way you can save tons of money and teach yourself how to link building in the long run.
