    Hey guys,

How's everyone doing on this shitty overcast day!? I'm creating this quick journey thread as a form of motivation, to share tips and tricks with the community and gather insight from you guys as well! Where's the motivation of this thread derive? Take a step into my world, I'm fortunate enough to have been giving a quality education from parents whom would feel more content in giving me the opportunity to undertake a good education over anything else. I've since completed year 12 VCE (highest achievement for high school in Australia) and I'm currently undertaking a bachelor degree majoring in Marketing. I know, lucky me right?

    Here's the thing.
I DESPISE it - the entire concept of school, I hate how it renders creativity useless, teaches you to listen to the man, work under the man, and live out your life as nothing other than.. a man working a 9-5 job, slaving away, kissing arse.

The reason I've created this is to prove that I don't need to be another schmuck working for a boss, to prove to myself that I can make it and this is my calling. So over the next 3-4 months of summer holidays, I will be documenting my progress. I'm going to be blunt throughout this thread - thought that's worth mentioning from the get go. I'm not a smart aleck, nor am I set on creating a persona of a douche bag - I'm motivated, there's a difference.

A little about me - I'm not going to con you into believing I've been hard done by, that things haven't worked - because that's entirely not true. I've done it all, sold ebooks, made logos, written articles, hired PAs, had dozens of websites, been around for the four letter boom, I've made $700 in a day, and I've lost upwards of $2000 in investments that have gone wrong - you get the picture. I begun internet marketing at around 13-14, simply making logos for teams on an online football management site until someone approached me to make them a business logo - that was my first $75CAD, and the bug bit me - I knew I wanted to work online.

That soon evolved to creating logos for DigitalPoint contests, which I soon grew bored of in search of something that would be more profitable. I moved to creating MMO eBooks, collating information, selling it to people that were more than happy with the information and experiences I had to share. I ran content blocker sites when they were hot, and at the age 14-15 I was up around the $1k a month mark. I sold off the sites in search of something a little less 'illegal' - whilst I can do Blackhat, the guilt or moreso worry I was experiencing was just too much, and I soon moved out of internet marketing to focus on schooling commitments and to just live a normal teenager life which I had deprived myself of spending day and night filling my mind with limitless amounts of information.

And so begins this journey thread - whilst I can comfortably say I've earned upwards of $10-15k working online, I cannot claim it has been sustainable - this is my goal - to have a sustainable income. My ULTIMATE goal being to be able to work from home, not to earn $xxx a day, but to really make it, to be ridiculously successful - that's my motive.

What I have at my disposal:
    - My recipe/cooking website I co-own with my girlfriend which will form the base of my sustainable income - intention is to drive traffic through social media and SEO, I created it almost a year ago, primarily monetising with Adsense but will look into selling my own products, etc. Traffic high was 600 UV a day back in July when we were a couple of months into running the site, at which point I no longer had time to keep updating it. I have since boosted it back up to 200UV a day over the past few days
    - A number of pinterest accounts with 100+ targeted boards
    - BHW and the greatest internet marketers on this planet to speak to
    - Years of experience with what works and what doesn't

This won't be a starting with $0, building my way up investing what I make type thread - if I need to invest $1k to get something happening - I have the belief in myself that I can make this work. I'm going to give it my best shot, this IS do or die, if I make it I'll live the dream, if not, at least I know I gave it my all.

Throughout the beginning of this journey and the next few days I will be reading up on as much as I can, getting to know the new algorithms that have been put in place, CPA networks, etc - A lot has changed in 3 years.

Enjoy the journey, look forward to connecting with you all!

Daniel thanks for being straight up about your journey, and telling us your story. Seems like you have a great determination, and the right mindeset to make it happen. Make sure to diversify, don't rely on any one thing to make the dream happen. Make sure you have several projects that earn in different ways, and focus hard. If you have any questions you need help with feel free to hit me up on PM or skype. Wish you the best!

Best of luck with this journey Daniel. Keep the website up and don't try anything stupid. Things can crash if you rush them, then you are back at square one. Keep posting, and I will keep viewing!

No worries and thank-you! One thing I'm kicking myself over is websites I've owned in the past, that were generating income I've just let die because I left IM completely and didn't bother to renew domains. So apart from this site, it feels as if I'm back at square one in terms of what I have at my disposal. I've run multiple micro sites at once, but I've never given myself a chance to make an authority site truly successful - whilst I'll attempt to have various lucrative side plans, the authority site is my main focus. I'll hit you up on Skype.
I definitely know if it's a 'too good to be good' type scenario, more often than not you get burned. I don't intend to invest recklessly, however, I thought I'd make mention that if it's necessary I'm willing to invest where the money is.

    Quick Update:
Firstly, appreciate all the support guys. Currently targeting long tail keywords with adequate exact searches and low competition to compete against. I've noticed content has been indexed considerably faster as of late, within an hour it seems - and immediately taking on a decent search position. This content is unique, and so it takes a lot of time to make one post (pictures, recipe, etc) - but I am aiming for a minimum of one post every two days. Yesterday's traffic capped at 256 visits, so we're making progress!

Tomorrow I'm looking further into SEO and monetization strategies including building a list.

Hopefully traffic continues on the up and I can begin reporting some real updates.

    Quick Update
Hey guys, I apologise for the extreme inactivity on this thread; however, I have been flat out.

Shortly after my last post, I opted to take on something a little more sustainable which I truly enjoy doing. I still have a number of sites earning some passive income, however, I am not interested in dumping hours upon hours into niche sites to be returned with poor results.

So we'll start this journey from here - it's my journey to $10k a month of sustainable income.

    March Earnings
    $2500 (via 3 offline clients)

My method, however simple it may be, is locating offline clients that require my services (SEO, social media, web design, IM essentially) and providing them with results. I am currently still at university, and it is becoming exceedingly difficult to manage the work load so I am constantly refusing work unless I can outsource at a fee which returns adequate income.

My trick? I target job boards actually LOOKING for someone to take hold of their IM business. I have an extremely high success rate applying to these firms as a contractor due to two reasons
    1) My experience in the field and ability to generate real results
    2) I am not cold calling, these people are genuinely looking for someone to provide specific skills

My aim? To begin catering to bigger clients. My clients currently range between $500 and $1500 a month. Once I have completed work with them, I will look for clients offering a minimum of $2000 a month to maximise the earnings I make.

It's a tough, and slow journey, but I am enjoying it.

I know I'm new here and my opinions don't matter much yet.. but as a RL successful business owner I wouldn't care if you had a BA before I hired you.. I'd hire you based on your past successes and failures. So if school is getting in your way of getting your dream of a sustainable income through providing realistic value to people via IM etc.. then I have to say forget school. Your friends will stay in school eventually look to work for someone else while you leave and start the company they look for a job at in the future.
Just my 0.02, and like I said, I'm new so I don't expect my advice to weigh much.. but I'm speaking bluntly to the concern you expressed a few times in this thread.
All the best in whatever you do, this is a good thread to keep an eye on. Cheers :)

I won't disregard your advice based on age of account - I treat everyone on the same level.

Everyone that has read my thread is aware of my opinion on my BA, however, I've started it and will complete it now. I will hopefully move into the 3 year course, and next year will be my last year - so I'm roughly 18 months from completing it.

I am ready to make that jump to operating my full time business, I just need to complete the degree and I can begin. I don't want to work for a huge company, I want to create a number of businesses and earn. IM work will only be a small part of my eventual portfolio; I know that.

Thank-you for the advice, I am well aware of what I want to do, at this point I just want to complete my course and keep working towards my ultimate goals. University for me is about passing and getting that piece of paper, nothing more.
