A job that’s socially pointless

There are jobs that truly move the world forward: doctors save lives, teachers open minds, and engineers build bridges

I believe that psychologists without a proper degree, life coaches, "mentors," and info-gurus are all the same nonsense.

There’s Mr. Abrokabadra my useless SMM guy. If I fire him, nothing will change… except we’ll save a lot on coffee and energy drinks.
So, what kind of job brings no real value to society?

Insurance agents, wealth advisors, corporates who do nothing except for playing PPT PPT and meeting meeting.

At least this is coming to my mind rn.

Value is measured not just by impact, but by integrity and outcome. Any role that thrives on illusion rather than results risks becoming noise, not contribution.

i have a PhD in prompt enginnering
self taught
self mastered
took me 30 minutes on youtube
surely that aint useless
 
No jobs are useless, it provides income to the ones that have them, the only useless ones for shitty/meaningless jobs are the ones buying them and not understand that it will not provide any value to the buyer.

Even if the job is socially pointless to 99% of the world, it may not be to some, especially the one cashing the paychecks.
 
The street vendors around Covent Garden /Trafalgar Square selling services such as;

  1. Bending/melting a thin piece of metal into the name of a loved one.
  2. Drawing an amusing caricature of you and your friends, you sit down in front of them for about 40 minutes.

Saying that a job is useless is a little bit exaggerated. I mean, if there's an actor, there are spectators - ie; in that case there is a need.

No need, no job.

Fair. My comment was loosely based on a radio discussion many moons ago on UK radio about what the general public would least be affected by if they happened to go on strike.

If we're getting serious though; if a service continues to exist after a relatively short period; it proves demand.

Americans on talent shows always talk about their dreams. Fine, if you have something that you’ve always dreamed of, like, in your heart, go for it! After all, it’s something to do with your time… chasing a dream. And if it’s a big enough one, it’ll take you most of your life to achieve, so by the time you get to it and are staring into the abyss of the meaninglessness of your achievement, you’ll be almost dead so it won’t matter.
