A hello from China

Hi guys, just want to intro myself a little, before I can hope to contribute to the forum.

I'm a Canadian that got relocated to China due to work, been here for 6 years now. I've missed the internet million boat when it first started (I started way back in 1998 online, but wasted all that time on Diablo), and been working as a software slave. I tought that being 30, I really only have about 5 years to make it on the net, before I give up on dreaming on making it big, and instead join the thousands of mundane lemmings, slaving away at their mortgage.

China has a lot of opportunities, being
1) it has a 13billion population, relatively young towards the internet
2) I have access to super cheap products with quality being class A, to knockoffs.
3) I have access to all sorts of manufacturers here, and understands the way, and the necessary "under the table" etiquettes, when dealing with them.


I'm hoping to learn, and take part in discussions here, implement techniques, make friends, start joint ventures, and liven up the mood in here!


It's still way too early, but if anyone is interested in entreprenurship and joint ventures, please do let me know! I'm quite careful, and do a lot of research when dealing with partnership, but once I know that your goals are determined, and the success rate is high, you'll find that I'm very effective (having many years experience running online stores, and reading up on online marketing, and dealing with manufacturers)

Hi urbanzen and welcome to the bhw. I bet it's very interesting in China. I've traveled many places but China isn't one of them. Places I've been to are Mexico, Tokyo, Okinawa, Thailand, S. Korea, Territory of Guam and on the other side of the world to Germany. Traveling is fun, I love it.

urbanzen, If I might respectfully request you change that thinking please:

I made my first serious 'fortune' during the years I was 19-25 years-old. Early 30's, I moved to Spain and made a second fortune in the property boom and now in Thailand supposedly to semi-retire, I am already on track to make between $500,000 - $1 million/per year, non of it Internet related. My Internet earnings are substantial but much more modest but will soar when I release a new product later this year, whose 'time has come'.

Many multi-millionaires only made it big after failing several times even to the point of bankruptcy so please, especially for me at my sensitive age, do not even begin to think you are past making it at 30-35-years-old...and when you make it late, you'll appreciate it more.

PS Isn't living in Asia wicked?

'...Point taken creztor. I used to teach for ten years in England, but I was smart. All my students were girls aged 16 -21. Still surprised I wasn't arrested, struck off and castrated.

hi urbanzen, I been in China this summer for vacation. It wasnt pretty, the government censor alot of sites. I wasnt able to go 30% of sites that I usually go to and the internet speeds are really slow for majority of English based site. But I was able to find a software that bypass the censorship, if you need it just tell me. I still have it on my pc.

Honestly? I don't like most of it. The comm**u**n*****ist era did a lot of damage towards the mentality of the folks here, and they've been pushed back 10 years in terms of technology, and 20 years in terms of EQ. General rudeness, selfishness and laziness are higher in % in the population, than anywhere else I've lived in (and I've lived in a lot of places in asia).

There's not enough trees and other green stuff, so I eat dust, smog, CO2, and all that goodness every day, in a super-high population density city.

Even though there are a lot of choices for food here, the stuff I eat (because I'm a cheap bastard) at the office has a lot of oil and grease. CHEAP FOOD AND DRINKS though!

I just use Tor and proxies =) , China also has a lot of VPN services too. China's a country famous for ripping off other's ideas, and massproduction and mass spread, hence getting softwares, totally free, is super easy if you're just a bit more savvy than the average joe.

Magician's post is so inspiring to me, that I'd like to thank you personally for sharing your story with me and us..

I'm just very worried of the "get job->find girl, marry, mortgage house and car, kids, mortgage colledge, morgage kid's house and car" route. I've also been scammed by fake joint ventures, that siphoned off literally half of my life savings (I've worked for 10 years), bad experience with SEO companies, and also coaches. You can see that I do all the proper stuff to try to establish my wealth(VC,coach,outsourcing), but each route ends up me being burnt. Hence I do have a low self-esteem, when it comes to making money online.

You're in Thailand! That's where AMWSO is headquartered..my site's affiliate programs are handled by them..Hot but very interesting country, one that I hope to holiday in, in the near future.

My goal for these few years, are to develop wealth, establish ventures with similar caliber, and most importantly, make and meet a circle of folks to be great friends with (I'm really out of touch with society, with my 9 to 7 job). I believe that life revolves around power, family, friends, money, and fun.

My main goal for the accumulated wealth, is to step away from online revenue, and into the entertainment (huge kareoke franchising in growing cities with entertainment demand), real estate, construction and dining sector (buying up plot of land in 3rd tier cities, turn it into a food or bar street, grow it into an entertainment sector, and hence raising it's land value). Construction has always been what I wanted to do since primary school, as I love skyscrapers, and other structures.
