A guaranteed way to make money, passively.

Guess we can see who invests and who is ignorant in this thread :anyway:

If you start young you can earn 10-25x initial investment over your life time, but you need to generate cash elsewhere as this is just to grow & maintain initial capital. It doesn't need to be lump sum, keep adding every month or year and it will take care of itself.

Live below your means, stash tons of IM $ into low cost index funds and never sell, that's the play.... you get an indirect slice of virtually every transaction happening in the world.

i am as much as on op's side to invest some money in other channels than online. Buy long term stocks and sell it when you get a 10% profit. Doesnt mater if it goes 100% or 1000%

your goal should be to buy the stocks as soon as you get to 10% profit

start small with $1000 and keep it increasing slowly

Exactly. It takes a whole lot of initial capital to make bank with OP's system

It takes a high savings rate to do this, not high initial capital. It's a slow way to build a path to never having to work to put food on the table again 15, 20, 25 years down the road. It doesn't make you a millionaire overnight. It took me 9 years to get to the million mark but I had 3 roommates in a 1400sq ft apartment and saved almost 90% of my income for the first 5 years. Everything snowballed after that.

Even today, I do not make "bank" with that principal. My dividends are around..~35k per year (obviously, this doesn't account for market appreciation which is harder to easily measure due to volatility and my holdings lean towards market appreciation rather than dividends for tax efficiency reasons) on a principal of 1.8m. But it's consistent.

Investing is all about discipline, not money. Most people could save 5-10% of their income if they managed to stick to their guns.

"saved almost 90% of my income for the first 5 years". That's amazing but only possible if and when you are on your own or have a very favorable set up for life. Most people have a hard time putting just 10% of their income aside for something that can turn into a huge cushion sooner or later. Most people also don't have the money or set up, to begin with.

I think it's highly unrealistic to assume that the average person could save 90% of their income. Some people have low paying jobs, others have wives and kids - that really only works if you're in your shoes where you shared an apartment with three people and had no responsibilities.

Why not tweak your strategy to make it suitable for the average person? I think that would help a lot of people.
