Usually if the buyer doesn't respond the case will close after 30 days. Well I have a case from back on Dec. 28th and it was an item not received case, but was resolved as the delivery was confirmed by both tracking and the buyer shortly after. However, the buyer never closed the case even after asking them several times. They probably don't know how as they only had 1 or 2 feedbacks.

It's now February 20th and the case is still open. Why hasn't it been automatically closed? Should I just ask ebay to step in? Even though it's confirmed delivered now by tracking and by the buyer in ebay messages, I still feel risky to ask ebay to step in. They might for whatever reason rule in favor for the buyer and give them a refund and give me a defect. At this point, nothing is safe with ebay as I know how ridiculous they can be for no reason and there would be nothing I can do about it cuz it's their turf.

I always thought it would be safer to just let it close on it's own since the buyer won't respond to it and hasn't since Dec 28th.

What do you think I should do with it? Continue to leave it alone and see if it will close on its own or ask ebay to step in and risk it.

bump.
The case is still open lmao! The buyer is happy and got her item long time ago and said bye to me but didn't close the case. Nobody has used the case in almost 2 months and it's still open! WEIRD?

Do you have proof that the order has arrived? (Tracking or message from the buyer?) - If yes then collect this stuff and send a email with the tracking nr. and the messages attached to ebay.
Or you can always call them, depending on what country you live in.

a ebay user has got 3 months to apeal any case .

proven refunds can be upto 8 months deep.

like said if you can prove all info then your be fine.

contact ebay they dont bite .

Calling paypal always helps.
I once got scammed by a POS that bought a Giftcard Code, yet I annoyed the paypal rep so much they refunded me half of the money.
If you have proof it's all good and done they should have no issue closing it after a quick call.

I would recommend just waiting it out and not stress about it. If they make a review stating it took long and your listing states that it will take a month to deliver you could always contact eBay. They sometimes revise feedback that is not accurate

Just to update you on that. I decided to just "ask ebay to step in" to close it for me. Fortunately they saw the tracking says it was delivered and closed it in my favor. Weird thing is there really was no problem. The buyer just opened the case cuz they didn't get the item (again, buyers opening cases way too early) but got it a few days after and told me they got it, all was good. They just didn't close the case even after I asked them to several times. Either she didn't know how to or she was just lazy and didn't bother to try.

But I wonder why it stayed opened for nearly 60 days with no communication? Has ebay policy changed? It used to be where the buyer doesn't respond within 30 days, then it automatically closes in the seller's favor. Has that changed to 60 days or something?

Lastly, again, as I have said numerous times, ebay's case system has problems. They should not allow buyers to open up a case WITHOUT having at least contacted the seller once! It's ridiculous that buyers can open up cases so early into the shipping timeframe. They can open up cases even while the item is in shipping! How dumb is that? Most of these cases are just a waste of time and grief because it's not really a problem yet and it gets resolved on its own simply by allowing more time. I'd say 90% of all cases that open up are this category.

Ebay really needs to get some common sense back. Is it so hard to make that adjustment? Buyers should first have to contact the seller FIRST at least ONE TIME in messages before they can open up a case. It would save everyone so much time and headaches.
