7 years on BHW Some thoughts

Awesome move! Any suggestion on how to start the conversation?

I would say look at ad's in craigslist for businesses for sale. If they're selling a viable business that's been around for years there's no way in hell that anyone would do that. Most busiensses would use a broker etc.. Not saying that the broker wouldn't advertise on craigslist, but you can spot the ads. Usually no pics, barely any know how. Be the saving person to offer your expertise, o cost upfront and try to get 5% of the biz. What's the worst they can say right? How dare you try to save my livelihood.

Thanks for your inspired testimony, but anyway you have to celebrate this achievement for every bhw member even if it's a bottle of soft drink

I'm doing so in high fashion. Where every self respecting internet marketer goes to unwind and recharge. "Hooters"

I also find going to biz mixers, especially with the chamber is a nice break to get out and keep your social interaction skills in top shape.

I never thought when I started, that clients would pay me to give speeches in front of their employees. I do it mainly for orm shit, get the troops riled up to be nice to get customers to write up nice reviews etc..

And it's another channel to make money. I'm following one local marketing/web firm that does in house corporate training. After they launch the site, they work with the in house marketers for 6 months or

and still are on retainer. You know why, the in house folks prob have a high churn and burn rate. I'm going to be working on that for 2018.

SEO is far from dead. It's just a new era of a very young industry. Be part of the new era.

Nice to hear from people who've been around here for a few years :) It's especially great that you were able to afford a house and a car while putting some cash on the side. Seems like a really comfortable position to raise your child and spend the time with your wife and daugther they deserve :)

What's up everyone. So 7 years on bhw, where does the fucking time go? Anyway some thoughts on where I started and where I am now.

Early days... 2008-09

I lurked on bhw for 2-3 years before signing up, I honestly didn't know what to say so I just read every post I could. I found bhw in 08 or 09. At the time I founded a startup, it was a online car dealership. I had my dealers license the whole 9 yards. Long story short, the economy crashed and when people don't buy new cars, you get a massive shortage of used cars at the auctions thus driving up prices. Simple supple and demand.

At the time and prob still now, craigslist ads were king for selling used cars. I was wondering why my ads were never live. I searched for why are my ad's are ghosting and boom!!!! Found BHW... Needless to say a few days later I was getting calls from Big car dealerships asking me how I was able to out post them etc...

2010-11
I worked several jobs to keep the startup going, prob putting in 80-90 hours a week. Everyone reaches their breaking point eventually. I lost the car dealership, filed bk and hit a big rock bottom. I was lucky enough to find a decent paying day job and thought my startup/entrepreneur days were over and good riddance.

After working the day job for 3 years or so, I was like what the fuck is wrong me, why I am not starting a business. I started hitting the franchise circuit and looked for something to do. I considered bouncy houses, taco trucks, stuff that you start for 5k or so. Like I said earlier I was lurking here for a while and never stopped. I thought seo was a bullshit thing and theres nothing you can do to influence rankings.

The post that changed my life. I was drunk one night scanning bhw for info when I ran into this post.

https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/h...arning-15-000-a-month-in-three-months.309903/

I must or re-read it 15 times. I started searching for Internet Marketers and salaries. The online marketing I learned selling cars made me think that I had a decent grasp of this shit already. I thought it non stop for weeks. This time, I was going to get some formal training and found a decent not cheap Online Internet Marketing Course. I was able to get school loans to pay for it. I could keep my savings to launch the new venture. I started the courses in mid july I think and it went for 8-9 months and I got some nice certificate degrees to show off etc... But, that November I officially joined bhw. I was getting 2 eductions, the white hat and black hat. To be honest the info here is 100x better than any online course, but I have no regrets.

2012

I officially started my company and had a paying client while taking the Marketing courses. I took the advice in Takitakals thread and went for higher paying clients. $1800 plus a month. Over the next 5 years I've had the highs and lows like anyone.

2017

I'ts been about 10 years since I was selling cars, 7 years since I've joined Bhw and things are going good. I was able to buy a house, a new car and enough money to save. My big advice is too keep your overhead low. Save your money and keep learning.

Special thanks to all the mods, vendors and everyone else.

ABC = Always be closing

ABH = Always be hustling

I was jr vip for a while. I'm also a cheap son of a bitch. With that said I will look into. I hear what your're saying and I'm always looking to bhw vendors before hitting the open market for stuff. BB really helped me out in the early days. Sucks he's gone now. Oh well...

Another great year.. another bump.. Hoping everyone a great upcoming year!

Very inspirational post. Sincerely hope you get more and more successful in all aspects of life. :)

very well done Sir, In my view mostly people search internet for find some shortest way to gain success. But they dont know that each behind of each success has lot of work and struggle.

Definitely a good read, you used your skills very well again after BR.

Bumping my life journey thread and wishing everyone a great year, happy holidays and all that shit.

This was a great year for me, us, and the agency. Some advice to give.

I've been in the seo game for a while and in the early years never went to a Seo Mastermind meetup. In the last year I've been to

2 or 3 and they have been game changers. I'm not mentioning them, because half the fun is figuring it out for yourself and I'm not

getting paid to name drop.

My best advice is to invest in onsite seo and automation.

Another great year.. another bump.. Hoping everyone a great upcoming year! Just keep grinding!

Update to my thread here. 11 years now on BHW

What a fucken year for everyone. Some of us made it and some didn't. RIP to the fallen.

Covid was one of our best years. Those businesses that were on the fence for seo/ads/digital marketing - you name it seemed to put a big premium for digital marketing services.

Not much to say that I haven't said before. Some key things that we have seen.

1. Onsite is important.
2. Onsite is important.
3. Pick your links wisely
4. Referal traffic is a hell of a drug
5. Keep grinding n learning

Happy Holidays everyone and let's kick some ass for 2022.

Statistics say the average millionaire has gone bankrupt 3 times. You only managed 1 so far, so hope you can try harder soon! :D

HAHA just kidding, I'm sure you learnt so much and glad to hear it's all going well now.
