I am in Canada, and we are comparable to most other "first-world" countries I guess. $50 is seen as quite a small amount for skilled work or work that satisfies us.

In the UK the minimum wage is £8.91 ph which is $11.80 but we have a very high cost of living, fuel bills (home fuel - gas and electric) are estimated to rise around £700 to £2000 per year ($2645).

Never price based on your needs. Price based on what the market is willing to pay. That has almost nothing to do with your cost of living.
