$50/day With Custom Pinterest Automation

VPS: No VPS yet, will buy asap to avoid destroying my laptop

Not sure how much it will cost in your part of the world, but Win 7 netbooks make pretty good Imacro bot machines. You can get 'em used/refurb in the $100-$200 range, maybe less on eBay. For Firefox, use image block plugins to minimize cpu processing and run the bots 24/7.

Good luck. I'm following your thread since I'm doing the same.

You got your whole plan figured out. Now execute it accordingly.

Pinterest traffic converts really well with Amazon. Good luck!

The script is .js, not .iim. There's some conditioning and functions inside that make sense and have to be there, so that might add to CPU consumption.

I turn off images in Firefox from the Tools -> Options (actually, I'm using Palemoon, which is same as Firefox but supposedly a bit less resource intensive). Each palemoon.exe instance spikes in the CPU for ~12% after couple of hours of running. Average is at around 7-9% for each instance I'd say. So, with 10 palemoon.exe instances I'm seeing my 3.17Ghz Intel i7 running at 70-100% all the time.

Question: Do the image block plugins further reduce the processing power? Because I thought just turning off images from the Options -> Tools is enough, both bandwidth wise (faster proxy loading) and processing wise (less CPU intensive)?

Yes, but I don't like commercially sold bots. With most sites the development and update/patch speed of these is usually problematic and not up to speed with changes on sites they're designed to automate. Also, once sites figure out the -insert name here- bot fingerprint you pretty much lose all your accounts.

with iMacros you can emulate real user behavior pretty darn well if you want to, at least everything is being done through the actual browser (Firefox, Palemoon)

Downside is huge resource consumption, but you can't have it all...

arnth there tools out there that automates this

Good number of followers, and yes focus on "the journey logs will hopefully help a bit more with accountability, determination, patience, discipline and all that stuff..." which you've mention in the thread!
All the Best.

I use the image block plugin for ease of turning them on/off. From time to time, I manually go into my accounts to make adjustments (i.e. remove unwanted pins, manage my groupboards, etc.). So, of course, I have to see the images to do that. As far as CPU use, I don't know enough of the specifics, but when pages load faster, I'm sure that the computer is working less.

Now that I think about this, perhaps someone can answer this question, can Pinterest detect when an account is loading pages without images? For sure that's a sign of botting, which could lead to ban.

Legit question, and a good one. I turn off images as well, but it never occured to me that pinterest might be tracking this. I mean, we both DO download the entire HTML of the page, so you also download those <div> or <span> elements that contain the actual images inside them. I'm not sure, I kinda doubt they're that dilligent in their tracking.

But doubt is not enough...

November 3rd Update

Deleting all video games from the laptop led to increased productivity, as expected. It's still not where I want it to be, I especially tend to wander off during research for a freelance writing project.

I snatched a small WP backup reinstallation gig from an old client of mine, so that'll take a couple of hours today or tomorrow and provide a bit more quick cash for proxies, accounts, VPS...
I also need to clone a small WP installation for another long-time "client" (he's actually a trainer at the local gym, but that's a long and irrelevant story...).
These 2 tasks will probably eat a whole day or even two if I start slacking off, but they have to be done, so the sooner the better.
This evening I'm also hitting the gym, my body is weaker than ever, and you can't have a strong mind in a weak body, or something like that...

Pinterest accounts are going great. I just broke 70k followers total yesterday, and if everything goes well, I'll hit 90-100k before November 15th.
I got the money for a VPS, so I'll buy it and set up the iMacros scripts on it later today or tomorrow.

I also improved the food/recipes website yesterday and at the moment it's like 85-90% of what I think it needs to be.
I'll be running ads on it from day 1, but they won't be too forced. 3 ad units, 1 big one in the sidebar and 2 smaller ones at the bottom. I expect nothing but rubbish CTR with this setup, but who knows, maybe I get pleasantly surprised. I'll be placing 1-2 more ad units above the fold (top of the post, top of the website) when I get some engagement on pins during next 4-8 weeks and, hopefully, some of them get some viral effect.

Content quality on this food/recipes website will remain to be a problem, but I can't fix everything right away. I can only hope that most bitches from Pinterest will simply leave the site instead of reporting or doing other nasty stuff to my sweet Pinterest profiles. The only other alternative I have is to not send any traffic to this website whatsoever, but honestly I don't want to wait forever to do something with all these followers - if this results in all of my 3 biggest accounts being suspended, so be it. At least I won't be relying on the current content automation method any more, and I'll still hopefully have 7 accounts left to fall back onto.

The pining (money) script and the profile cloning script haven't seen much work being done on them yet. I'm prioritizing the pin script at the moment since I won't be building up new profiles for at least 2 weeks. However, pin script is the harder one to fix because I'm still not quite sure how much I even want to pin. Some ideas are 2-3 pins per hour over 8-10 hours, 8-10 times per hour for 3-4 hours during US/Canada prime time, or maybe just pin 6 pins per hour for 6 hours a bit before, during and a bit after US/CA primetime. I'm just not sure how much time it will take me to make it right without taking too much risk of getting my accounts suspended.

Noob question: When is the US/CA primetime on Pinterest anyway? :D :D

NOVEMBER 10th GOALS

  • Figure out the best parameters for pinning (money) script, then modify it accordingly.
  • Start pinning from my 3 biggest accounts (45k followers combined).
  • Modify a friend's custom made .exe that cycles iMacros scripts every x hours - this one's hard, I'm not a very good programmer/coder. The reason I need to do this asap is because I plan on having more accounts next month, and it's gonna be too innefficient to start 30-40 scripts/profiles manually every day. I'm also kinda lazy person.
  • Create a nice looking website in a different niche.
  • Fix the profile cloning script - this should've been finished yesterday, but since it's not very important atm I'm not prioritizing it, just noting it down to remind myself it ALSO has to be finished eventually.

Early eves to around midnight is the suggested time range. So using Eastern standard time, pin between 5PM-3AM. There's a 3 hour difference between east and west coasts. 3AM eastern is midnight in the west.

Quick update

We got a first casualty! 1 of my 7 accounts that I'm currently building has been deactivated ~6 hours ago. This is the message I see when I try to login:

Code:
Oops!
Your account has been deactivated, but your pins are safe and sound.
Please contact Support and we'll get you pinning again soon.

This is the first time I see this, all the accounts I lost before this journey were suspended, this is the first deactivated one. I figured out just a couple of hours ago I can login to the email account with the same password as pinterest account, so I did send the messages to Support, no response yet.

It was one of the accounts that was on https://, so it's possible that since proxies are only http:// the real IP was leaking all the time. Now that I've transferred everything to VPS that obviously has different IP than my home connection, maybe I hit one of those automatic blocks.

My other accounts which are on https:// as well are still live and kicking. I only got 2 or 3 of those anyway, 1 of them is kinda big-ish already (17.5k followers). I really don't understand why pinterest forces some accounts to be on https:// all the time while others remain at http:// and with login cookies you never have to deal with the "s" part...

Quick update 2

Seems like I DID hit some automated deactivation booby trap. My account got reactivated. Everything is fine. Peace and happiness all around.

I'm not sure I have fully understood your comment.
You think the real IP is leaking because that the proxy cannot forward secure HTTP connections?

I'm using proxifier (a program which sets a proxy hook for all the connect() uses alone the operation system), I have tried to use wireshark to figure whether the real IP is leaking or not, it seems that it doesn't leak at all. I tested both HTTP and HTTPS connections to pinterest.

If it's really leak, it's can be an important issue.

Its really a better idea ... Thanks for your post mate ... Keep doing you will reach your goal soon ... :)

I'm operating under a lot of assumptions here because my tech knowledge is rather limited in many areas. Your post just helped me a bit regarding those programs/software you mentioned.

I guess occassionally seeing that red triangle with a "!" in Firefox when things are loaded over https:// means something breaks in the process. Does the real IP get transmitted? I don't know really...
I'll check this out on my own, thanks for the tip!

Best of luck on your journey, I'll be following!

This red ! means that the certificate which was issues by the server isn't authenticated against your computer CA (certificate authority). Generally speaking - your proxy has changed the website's cerificate because it has to decrypt the connection is order to pass it to pinterest. and the proxy's certificate is self-signed, meaning that the proxy issued it. and that's why your computer certificate authory cannot identify it.

I'm sorry for my bad English, I hope you understand.

I would be happy to help with any technical questions.

Good luck!

DECEMBER 16 UPDATE

It's been more than a month, I know. I haven't abandoned the journey, I just haven't progressed as far as I wanted/expected. I've been busy with some gigs that popped unexpectedly, got caught up with some deadlines, hit a few roadblocks... Some of it is my own fault, some of it are just "higher powers" at work. It's what it is now, it's important that I keep moving forward.

A few things I managed to kick off the list:
  • All my accounts are stile alive. I built them up to ~180k followers. I've been unfollowing massively for the last 2-3 weeks, to the point of all my accounts having followers:following ratio of 3:1 and 4:1. I've noticed my total followers number started dropping off a little bit during the last couple of days, however, losing a few hundred followers compared to unfollowing 300k+ profiles is no real reason for concern.
  • I improved the profile cloning script significantly. There's still room for optimization, but frankly I'm OK with it being like it is at the moment. It's important that it works without issues 90%+ times as far as I'm concerned. I cloned a lot of accounts with it, they all look legit, so I can say that part is mostly done.
  • I made an account creator iMacro script, so no more buying accounts or creating them manually for this lazy-ass mofo :). I made a first batch of accounts ~2 weeks ago. I'll let them mature for a bit more, then I'll start building followers on them.
  • I've narrowed down the approach I wanna pursue from now on: I'll only pin my money sites to disposable accounts. These accounts will be built to have only a few hundred to maybe 1k followers, to look somewhat legit. The rest of the accounts that have shitloads of followers will be repinning the money pins from these disposable accounts.
REASONS:I've noticed that my automation would pick up artificially inflated pins every now and then. Meaning, somebody out there botted his/her pin to make it reach the top of category page. What's even more funny, sometimes these bots would artifically inflate MY OWN repins. I've had repins that had 3k+ repins, all coming from virtually identical (fake, obviously) accounts. So, yeah, repinning seems to be a lot safer than straight up pinning the money stuff, otherwise I suspect I'd lose my power accounts already. The worst case scenario with this approach is I lose my disposable accounts and my website domain gets banned/blocked.
At the moment, I don't even have a clearly defined algorithm of smooth and fool-proof automation. I have several options in my head and on paper. I've dabbled with some half-assed attempts to modify my current scripts and whatnot. Needless to say, this is a MUST before I can expect to even make any money with all these damn followers. It's also a step towards scaling everything up 10x or 100x, which I'm sure will be possible once I finally do all this foundation-stuff.

Anyway, it's been close to 3 weeks since I stopped massivelly following everybody around. I've noticed a slight decrease in the number of repins and likes I receive on my (re)pins. At first I was worried, but I've already had a few cat and dog images go semi-viral on most of my accounts, so I'm not worried any more. From now on, I'll make sure I maintain the "(re)pin something every day" approach no matter what, to keep my followers interested in my stuff and maintain some reach on all these accounts.

I've heard some rumors of new Pinterest following blocks lately. As I haven't been massively following for ~3 weeks now, I have yet to see if there's any truth to these. I suspect it's only some Pinterest newbies hitting blocks with their baby-accounts, but until I prove otherwise, I'll keep this in mind.

TO-DO:

  • New iMacro Javascripts for the pin-repin approach
  • Modifiy the fucking .exe finally. I'm just a bad programmer :(. I'll maybe have a friend help me out a bit on this one, cuz it's long overdue.
  • A website in a different niche. No reason to delay this any longer other than me being a lazy mofo.
