I'm not in the US. I set up a separate phone (iCloud, US sim card, location services off) to use for US audience. The sim card is physical and inactive. It's advised to just use WiFi and keep cellular data and bluetooth off. I'm not sure what's the reason behind it. Can I connect the phone to a 4g router which has a non-US sim card in it? Or will that mess up the setup?

So what number does the icloud account have? If the inactive number is tied to the icloud account, don’t you think you will be in trouble when apple wants to verify your phone number for an account related action?

If this is the case, I think you are lining yourself up to be locked out. Or probably i didn’t understand you correctly.

You need to use a residential IP. It must be a local IP. And one account has one IP.

the number is not the same as the physical sim card, the sim card is there only so I can get on the US fyp on TikTok. That wasn't really my concern though

why? I've seen people say proxies and VPN get their TikTok banned. WiFi is enough, but my concern is whether the cellular router I have will act the same as regular WiFi
