45000 members forum-need help

hello guys

i need help for earning more out of a 45000 member forum

it is immensly popular and right now only normal ads are being displayed

what are the other ways i can monetize the forum....its basically a forums for downloads...

i got a few idea like locking the downloads sections till one completes a survey

some sites come up with overlayer of advertisement after 45 secs or initially

any other means of monetizing are welcome

please guys offer some suggestions

and also ebook section of the forum is quite popular i have read that ebooks can used to earn aswell could anyone help on this

we have never tried seo methods for popularising it ...all the advertising was nearly by the word of mouth since we dint post anywhere etc but by just offering quality downloads

so any suggestions on increasing traffic,monetizing it,optimizing are highly appreciated

In all honesty, I dont think it's the best idea to make them complete a survey to download a file. Maybe 1 survey daily per account(If you recquire an account to download content on the forum). Too many survey's = A pain in the a** for the user imo.

Banner ads with affiliate programs up at the top of the page, make sure you choose the right vendors and you should be raking in the sales in no time.

CPA on the downloads, as the user above said, you can set it to do one survey for access for 24 hours.

Also look in to a pay model, where people who donate money will have unlimited free access.

The best way I've found to monterize forums is using embeded text ads (Clicksor does this, and a few others) that will search the post, highlight a keyword and then PPC when people click on it.

Downside to this, is it makes your forum slower, you might see user rejection.

Also with 45,000 members, you should have the unique impressions to get a pretty nice CPM account for banner ads.

I was about to reply and say the same exact thing until I did the ole' scroll down and saw this.

Premium accounts are always wanted by members because it actual benefits them for a long period of time, perfect technique.

well there is no wait on downloads..........and yes we alredy have option called VIP members who have to pay to get acess to high quality content

and we alredy use clicksor, and few other

any affliate vendors u recommend ? target audience is mainly indian

and how do i implement the complete one survey in 24 hours

plus i have see this kinda of advertisement but i dont remember where and wat it was

when i first open the page an advertisement covering the whole screen pops up as a layer above the actually page and countdown starts for 40 seconds

there s also an option called skip advertisement on top right corner

any idea guys on what it is?
that way users wont be anooyed since they have the option to close them

Make downloads on a seperate page and surround the download link with adsense ads, or even better, code a 5 second delay for the download link to appear while the user looks at ads. If you do it right, a lot of the ads will say something like "download x" and theyll get crazy ctr. Adsense with downloads can be amazing

Make there something what normal users cant do, and ask like 2$/month for membership. I dont know anything about your forum, that why i cant tell you anything what you could make, but i think you will figure out something.

premuim membership alredy implemented and yah i don wan my users to fill out surveys ,ill lose traffic by that

and adsense banned it last month so no adsense

i see only option i have is combination of clicksor etc ads

I STILL HAVE NO INFO ON EBOOKS affliate marketing? any idea on that guys?

if you want i have a lead on some new ebooks that are good cheap and will sell like hot cakes oyu can make a paid area ass well that access to it will be thrugh cpa free trail offers which pay high....pm me if you are interested...

Stay away from your cpa idea. They're members of your forum for a reason..don't chase them away. Here's what I would do:

1.) Determine the age and sex of the average user on your forum.
2.) What are their interests? What type of user are you catering to?
3.) Find a product that you believe will catch their interest.
4.) Contact the creator and/or distributor of the product and let them know how
many members you have. Maybe they can offer some sort of special or discount
for your members, along with the typical commission for you.

That along with targeted ppc advertisements put it strategic places can do wonders for you.

the problem is my audience consist mostly of eastern side ........i dont think people will be interested in buying ebooks of a download site....they will jus google for it

,surveys are one thing we should avoid for my audience........they will jus search for it somewer else if they wer to fill a survey to get to the link

surveys might work for people in west but as far as our audience is concerned it is just like calling the end of traffic urselves

what i understand from it is.....keep a vip section which we alredy have and make it available to users who complete high paying cpa offers right??

wont that be a betrayal to our premium members........they are the ones who are primarliy suporting us.....

maybe we can introduce a new type like semi vip
not sure what content we can out in ther

and yah that gives me an idea
complete surveys and win gifts,or rapidshare accounts etc but is there any way to check which member did how many surveys?

you could use php to script this and run the surveys, for the timer thing also use php lol.
and also you would have to set up a mysql database to access the files and who did what or w.e
